    Default Grapefruit Bad for You?????

    Hi Lassies,

I usaully try to have at least 1 cup of Green or White tea a day to stay on top of my beauty game. So over the last few years, I divised a regimen, to have a cuppa tea whilst on the net....Seeing as how I checked the net at least once a day, I figured what a perfect time to have to tea! .....

Anyhoo, As I started to drink tea about a year ago, I have had many things to go with my tea(i.e tea bisquits..oranges..etc) ...to make it NOT so boring, but for the last few months i have had those big bluberry muffins from old spunkmyer......and they have a LOOOOOOOOOT of sugar in them, and are interfering my with fat burning plans. So I decided to switch to sumthing a lilttle less sugaress...

    GRAPEFRUIT & Tea.

Anyhoo again, I keep reading that it is good for weight loss, BUT it is also bad because of its Oestrogenic properties & HIGH Potassium ???

Can someone shed some light on this mysterious fruit...

    Thank You!!!!!

The study you posted is very wishy-washy.

I worked in research for the American Cancer Society, and when this study came out, we were bombarded with calls. We ended up woth over 50 studies that completely negated these claims.

Even if it is a reliable study, you shouldn't worry. The study only examined post-menopausal women who ate grapefruit, whose risk of breast cancer is already significantly higher than say, a woman in her 20's or thirties. Post-menopausal women have many more restrictions in what to not eat in order to lower their risk of cancer.

Grapefruits are incredibly beneficial beyond dieting; they have high levels of vitamin C. In fact, consuming grapefruit regularly has been proven to lower your risk of colon cancer.

The biggest recommendation is that, if you Google ANY food+cancer, there has been at least one study that links it to a higher risk of cancer. That's why most researchers recommend eating a variety of fruits and vegetables, rather than getting into a food rut (i.e. grapefruit and tea every morning) like most people do.

grilled food, even, has been identified as cancer causing/carcinogenic, from the bits of burnt and charcoal. anything can be too bad in large amounts, but most things are good or just fine in moderate ones.

I definitely agree that this post is incomplete, sounds like the research is way incomplete, especially when you figure in the factors brought up by ruby and kandie.
And not to go all leftie on you but Fox News doesn't have the strongest reputation for delivering complete, unbiased news.
Plus grapefruit (as well as most fruits and veggies) is high in antioxidants, aka cancer repellers.

    Maybe foods ruts cause cancer.

    Everything else does.

something important you should know about grapefruit though is that it can interact with medications. i used to take an anti-anxiety medication that i wasn't supposed to have grapefruit with.
