    WWW Successful Canadian Dancers?

This thread may sound offensive to some, but it's really just a bit of rant and observation over my time dancing in Toronto, Ontario over the past few years, and I'm just interested in hearing some input and observations that might help me understand things better. Ive noticed that the majority of the dancers in various clubs I've danced at have a niave and/or defeatist view of this business, with the result of some girls performing extras and downgrading it with their jaded attitudes, or they are in survival mode with no hope or ambitions of using this business to their advantage. I have yet to meet a dancer with ambition and goals to further thier life or career, which I find disappointing and sad.
Though, I have to admit at times this has worked in my favour , because I saw money potential where most girls would not, but unfortunatley this also served to work against me , where girls would make up stories about how I was the girl doing extras, only because they knew I would always bank most nights and they would'nt, out of their lack of knowledge of the business, lack of self-esteem etc, and pride in what they do.
I find it strange that I have not met any dancers who have accomplished anything over the years I have been dancing, and wondering that maybe it is just a cultural difference between Canadian and American perspectives on the business. To me , it seems that generally all the Ontario clubs I have been to over the years have a backwards attitude and there seems to be a lack of hope and pride from the managers and dancers themselves in that this line of work is not profitable and shameful.
From the threads and stories Ive heard from girls who have worked in certain clubs in th U.S., there seems to be a more open respectful attitude towards this business, which I have have yet to find where I am located.
Just curious to hear any feedback from dancers who travelled to Ontario as well as Canadian dancers themselves, Again, I don't mean to offend or insult anyone, these are just my own observations and experiences.

    Where were you working?

I started dancing in Toronto, and although I did see this at some of the clubs, I certainly found others where it wasn't true. At my club, even though a lot of the dancers were just doing it to pay for school many of them certainly enjoyed their job and you do make money there.

Admittedly, there is a certain level of shame a lot of the dancers feel - not so much being ashamed of the job, but just realising how other people who have never been in the buisness view it. Many of the girls (myself included) had cover jobs so as to not have to tell people what they really did - but isn't this true anywhere you go? But in general, the customers treated me better in Canada, I enjoyed my job more and made more money working there than overseas.

I can see how working in the big cities in Ontario is alot easier to work in then the smaller towns, I'm more curious to know why there is a lack of bigger and more appealing clubs in the Toronto area, which would attract more business and appeal like some cities in the States.

I've been dancing in Ottawa for a bit more than three years.
I'm also in my last year of Law School. The girl I started dancing with (who is also on stripperweb) is doing her Masters in Education.
I also dance with another girl who's a piano teacher and is finishing her degree.
I know lots of dancers with no ambitions, but also lots who have many goals and dreams.
I know a girl who works in IT, a girl who 's just starting law school and a girl studying phychology...
Hope that helps change your opinion a bit!

That's encouraging to know, maybe it's just the area I am working in, right now, I've been able to pay for a degree and a professional diploma and over the few years that I have been dancing and unfortunately I have only met one dancer who paid for her IT education dancing and then quit two months ago.
It's refreshing to know that there are still other like minded daners out there with goals to further their lives and be empowered.
