    Crossfingers Unskinny Bop

God, I feel like a heifer. Being here has been emotionally draining. I have seen so many hot girls here. I'll be honest. I'm not hot, I'm cute and I have a quirky personality. I am not FAT. I am 115 llbs 5'1 a size freaking 3, but I got told at one club I need to lose weight. It's hard to keep up your self esteem but I'm trying. I've been cutting out the sodas and eating right, plus working out. For those of us who feel a bit "hefty" don't let it get to you. Just look at ways that you can improve yourself and be healthy. I try not to bitch and moan, but rather be proactive and do something about it.

Word on that... I got told I was too fat by a bad club a few years ago... I was 120 lbs and 5'3"... And this was in Ohio for crying out loud! I wasn't skinny, but I wasn't fat. They said lose 5-10 lbs then come back, we have a lot of girls right now.

The next day I went and got hired at an upscale gentleman's club...

I guess they were just trying to fill their fat-dancer quota. PSHAW!

That's the main thing I don't miss about dancing. I went into this one club and the guy told me I had to lose weight. Then he made a pig noise. I was 125 pounds at most at 5'7. Think that's bad, there was a club I was trying to get into. I slimmed down to 115 and a size 4 or so. This other club rejected me for my "blubber". Said I had "thunder thighs" Um excuse me? I had no blubber anywhere, and my legs are nothing but muscle and no fat anywhere.

Unfortunately they were managers so I couldn't do much except not go there. Now when male customers pulled the fat thing, I'd go off on them. One guy was calling me an oinker while I was on stage. I basically told him to f*ck off. One guy told me I was fat when I asked for a dance, so I told him he was pathetic and too ugly to have a girlfriend. This guy reported me to the manager, but the manager told him he shouldn't have called me that.

it's stories like this that make me scared to audition.

I don't understand why people feel the need to be so mean.

jeez what a bunch of dicks. At the first place I ever worked at, the girls were all really close. When something like that would happen, you would tell another girl and she would go "accidentally" spill a drink on them. It was hilarious.

That's so funny, because sometimes I feel the opposite. I hate being called "skinny", to me it is not a compliment. That's probably because I was awkwardly skinny when I was growing up, I stayed at 100 lbs for the longest time (I am 5'5")....now I am 115-120...depending on how much weight-training I do. (I lose weight if I stop working out).

I had a guy say "oh my god, do you EAT?" when I was on the main stage before. I felt like complete shit for a while after that, because there is nothing I hate more than to be referred to as "too skinny". But then again, the same night, another guy said "I don't like those anorexic-looking girls, that's why I like you" implying that I had some meat on my bones. You never freaking know what others perceptions are, and when it comes down to it, who cares. It drives me crazy to try and please anyone other than myself.

Sorry this is so long, I think my point here was that perceptions in general vary so much, it's important not to invest in the opinions of others. That manager might think you need to lose weight, and then there is probably another person who thinks you need to gain some, and that size 3 is too skinny. You can't please everyone!

I think as long as you feel happy and healthy, that's all that matters.

I will admit though, it IS difficult to maintain that outlook when our bodies are our sources of income....what a mind-fuck!

wow im glad i dont work in america, managers are never mean like that they always say we cater for all men's tastes. the first time i rang up a club for information i asked if it mattered that my boobs weren't very big (size c) and he just said they had all types of girls working there, larger, smaller, taller shorter, big boobs small boobs and i worked there for 2 years.
The most I've heard guy say about a girl on stage if she's maybe a size uk16 is something along the line of "she's not stick thin" or "you don't get many dancers like that", they're not trying to be mean just mentioning what everyone see's in a polite way. The making a pig nose comment was realy mean what a horrible man, if manager's turn away girl's in england(which is rare) they will either say we don't give reasons or if its for something like pole dancing they will say your a lovely lady you look great but your not very confident on the pole so we would like to arrange some lessons for you before you start.
Maybe the managers you've seen(and customers) should get some lessons too in manners and how to be gentlemen. Even if you were grossly obese there is no need for such hurtful and rude comments x

England's clubs sound lovely and proper. It is very common for people in the U.S. to rudely speak their minds nowadays in all professions/aspects. A bunch of assholes trying to outdo each other. It is usually those that have a chip on their shoulder, or could only pass opinions and judgement rudely due to a power trip that I have noticed that tend to get mouthy.

WOW! This ad for Tottie's, a UK lap dance club in Cheshire near the Manchester airport is GREAT!!! It is so dancer friendly-saying women don't need "big boobs or perfect bodies, most men want REAL girls!" Also the rules about no touching, no propositioning the dancers are all out front so guys know that the club expects customers to respect the dancers. I guess in the US,the attitude is often that the customer is "always right" even if he's mostly wrong. I hope the club does great because I got a real positive feeling just reading the messages on their website. Cheers, Harlow

Im sorry but its very hard to get into england if your american, because firstly everyone in the EU is allowed to move between countries(there are 22 countries in the european union), its as if the EU is one big country when it comes to immigration, and then Britain is obliged to let everyone in from commonwealth countries first and thats around a quater of earth's landspace and then they are obliged to take in refugees. Alot of girls come from eastern europe spain portugal italy and south africa to dance so there would never be enough demand for additional dancers from america.
I suppose I don't appreciate how genteel, polite and reserved english men are, so there are sometimes there are men that are rude everywhere but thats something i've rarely heard dancing.
I think the customer is always right has long gone in england and now its respect our staff or get the fuck out, in alot of lapdancing clubs here the rules are posted on the door and the door men ask 'have you been here before?' if they say no then they read them rules, if they say yes they ask them to tell them three rules and if they can't they go through the rules again so there's no excuses, alot also post the rules in every dance booth. And i've read here abour doormen not protecting dancers isn't that there job? wherever i've danced in england if a girls been upset by a customer the doorman is like i dont want to hear it lets skip that and throw him out right now!
I've been dancing three years i weigh around 140lbs and and 5ft6 and no one has ever ever said anything negative about me least of all club owners and managers, i never imagined any club owner or manger would think it to be in their best interest.
Were no supoermodels for gods sake we just want some extra cash.

the club ad also says they will 'help you with your moves' which is also nice, stripperweb horror stories make me appreciate my club owners even more.

did you see this on the totties website

    "Remember:
Always be polite to the dancers and don’t treat them as if they are prostitutes. They tend to have a low bullshit threshold and the bouncers are big and well paid!!"

i cant beleive they actualy put that on the website

    http://www.totties.net/rules.html

looks like shouting is their biggest problem because its underlined x

Back to the original statement, I am 5'8 1/2 and 130LBS and was told by Bada Bing LV that I was fat and had "cankles".

Ummm.. WTF?! You're fine babe. Seriously.I once knew a girl who was 5'3 and 145lbs, but she was a fitness model. Do NOT let them determine your self worth.

Blech. I think the whole "fat" thing is disgusting.

I was told by another dancer that I was short and fat at 5'2", 103 lbs

(Poor thing was having a bad night....and really bad hair)

But back to topic: I just checked out a new club the other night in my area. There were some pretty dancers there, but the 'top girl' had a bigger tummy than breasts or shoulders, not much of a booty, average to slightly below face. She was not flabby at all, but she worked that pole like a cirque du soleil performer and combined it with some flexible, slightly nasty floorwork and this chick was BUSY!! It's all in the attitude.

Girl, you are tiny. Dont let those asshats get to you.

yea i felt that way. thats one of the reasons i'm still waiting to go back to work. i'm 5'0 and have always been 100lbs. well over the winter i gained 10lbs and you can really tell on me. my b/f and i have been going to the gym and i have been using a self-tanning lotion so i've been feeling a lil better.
when i went to new york i got turned down at the hustler club so i didn't go to any of the other clubs in the city and just worked in queens. i also got turned down in indiana.
in st.louis, i work at penthouse which girls from here said they are picky on hiring and i worked at vips in chicago.
the times i got turned down it was by a housemom. those ladies just don't seem to like me.

It's good for all of us to read these stories. Sometimes people just say things to be mean, and not because they are actually relevant.

I once had a manager at a very prominent club tell me that I was too heavy to be dancing on the shift I'd been assigned to by another manager. I was 5'5 and a size 2 in clothes! I didn't have a scale then, but I would venture to say I was somewhere around 110 to 119 lbs. I laughed my way out the door with my money in hand but refused to ever work his shifts again.
    Don't you ever sleep?

Tottie's rules!!!If I were English,I'd love to work at a club like this!!! CASHING IN, I think it is so great that the management of UK gentlemen's clubs, don't take any crap off the punters. I'm thrilled that you UK dancers are treated with respect. For us in the states, this sounds like utopia. I've spent a lot of time in the UK especially London and I enjoyed it so much-the people I met were totally cool, but really knew how to have a great time. Cheers!! Harlow

for about the millionth time.... naturally skinny/thin girls are "real women" too. not all of us are anorexic and comments about men liking "real women" and "not stick figures" and "girls who eat" (not that you said that, im just saying in general) are just as rude as saying a girl who is a healthy curvy weight is fat.

again, this isn't about your post specifically, but i'm really tired of the media. in their fake attempt to be pro-women they have geared the market toward lashing out at thin girls. so many commercials and magazines now associate thin with "unhealthy" or "unattractive". it's ridiculous.

at any height there's usually about 40 lbs of "room" a woman can weigh and still be perfectly healthy and attractive, depending on her body frame, muscle mass, etc.

no one has said natural women must be any specific size, i think if you look at the clubs in england you have alot of women who are natural some very thin, some in between and some maybe a bit bigger but not overworked, lost alot of weight or had surgery, When i was in the USA alot of people are either at one extreme or the other in the weight scale whereas here when a cub specifies for natural/real girls they don't mean bigger(because not everyone is naturaly bigger) they mean as you are x
