Me jealous!
I've been to Vegas 4 times in the past 2 years...I don't have any 'extreme' suggestions, but I will say that you will be able to find whatever your fancy is in Vegas...When I go, I spend most of my time in the casinos gambling at night, and during the day I love to just walk up and down the strip taking photos or people watching...Every hotel/casino has a nightclub, although I'm not much for clubbing, but if you are then you will have many to check out! Then there are malls on top of malls on top of malls! So you got your shopping thang covered lol.Tons of great shows...from concerts to comedians, dancing, celeb impersonaters (giggle). There are various different kinds of tours available where you can go to the Hoover Dam or take helicopter rides, etc...I did take a helicopter ride over the strip at night time...IT WAS AMAZING and I highly recommend it (will run about 85 bucks a person)....but basically anything you can dream up, you can do in Vegas!
I'm assuming this is your first time so here's some tips...
I always check the weather (weatherchannel.com)...I've been to Vegas at different parts of the year....
Get a Player's Card (ask at check in where to sign up)...earn points for every dollar spent in casino play and earn comps and discounts...
Ask at checkin if there are any special deals or promotions and if so where to sign up...
If you smoke, bring enough cigs so that you don't have to buy in Vegas (im in NC and LV prices are twice what we pay...)
there are a few stores like walgreens or cvs on the strip where you can pick up small items that you may have forgot...most of the big strip hotels have a 'general store' but you will pay through the nose...
When in the casino and playing slots or table games complimentary beverages are offered (yes as in alcoholic)...as long as you are gambling the cup runneth over...lol just be sure to tip to ensure the cocktail girls keep checking on ya...I tip 1-3 dollars depending on time of day, what im drinking, and how quick the gals check on me...and I've had friends go for the first time and BUY their drinks at the bar unaware of the free booze. and its a 24 hr town so everything goes 'round the clock!
MAKE SURE TO HAVE YOUR ID ON YOU AT ALL TIMES...you will be asked for it in the casinos and will need it for player's club card, check in, etc etc etc...
google las vegas too or check out a travel website (orbitz, travelocity) for activity ideas!
hmmmm all i can think of for now!
I always have a kick ass time, and the people in Vegas IMO are sooo nice and cheerful!
Hope you have a great time and Happy Birthday!
Thanks for all of the info MissMay1983, you're awesome for taking the time to type all that down. The 'copter ride sounds like a lot of fun, so I will check that out.

I highly recommend visiting the Double Down Saloon!

no prob hun! and hopefully someone will add some more 'lively' things to do (my vegas trips can be a lil mediocre compared to some lol)...
have you decided which hotel to stay at or made bookings? and some other tips i just thought of...
-i use travelocity or orbitz but then i also check the homepage of the hotels i may be interested in also....
-airline websites can also book a package with flight and hotel combos....
-ive never had the need to rent a car as i stay within the strip and do a lot of walking or take a cab back when i have walked as far as i wanna go...
-you can enter ANY casino, even if you arent staying at that particular hotel (just thought i would add as i have had my friends ask this question)...
-if gambling at a casino other that the one at your hotel DONT FORGET TO CASH IN YOUR CHIPS! ALSO before you leave to return home make sure you have cashed in all chips and vouchers!
any other questions you may have just holla!

Just came back from Vegas a few days ago.If you want to check out a very popular nightclub,go to "XS" it's in the Wynn's new tower. We had a nice table with bottle service with a great view of everything. The place was PACKED and absolutely stunning!

Copy and pasting what I told ScarletPhoenix because it's still valid:
"Fun Bars Off The Strip:
I second, double and triple the Double Down Saloon recommendation. Try the Ass Juice shot.
There's a bar literally just called Divebar down on Tropicana that kicks ass. Live music, punk rock kids, bar food and $2 cans of beer. You can't beat that.
The Griffin down on Fremont St in old Vegas is great. Gas fireplaces, chill atmosphere.
Beauty Bar is a few doors down from the Griffin and is styled like a 1950s hair salon but has music. The have Martinis and Manicures on Fridays so you can get your nails painted and drink a martini.
On the strip:
Ny, Ny Rollercoaster. Tis a must. It's like $12 a person to ride but if you bat your eyes at the attendant he will give you the MGM/Mirage discount which drops it to $6. Do it after dark!!
ROK : Inside NY, NY. In my opinion, has the best music in town for a mainstream club. Panoramic video screens, lots of dancing, it's fairly small. But great.
The Lions inside MGM. I mean, I love them. Seems cheesy but they are kick ass. I will stand there like 45 mins just watching them.
Sigfried and Roy's Secret Garden: Mirage. So beautiful and who doesn't love baby animals and dolphins?
Mandalay Bay Aquarium: The only predator-based aquarium in the country. I think it's $18. The have golden crocodiles, komodo dragons... I think it's pretty cool.
Cleopatra's Barge: Caesar's Palace. It's a boat inside the casino which is also a lounge. You're supposed to rub Cleopatra's nipples for good luck.
Bellagio Fountains: Dude, it can be seriously romantic. I only like it when they play the opera music.
Eiffel Tower: Paris. Go up to the top. It's worth it.
Gondola Rides: Venetian. The gondoliers sing opera to you. Get gelato at the square inside afterward, particularly the cinnamon, tiramisu or raspberry. Yum.
Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum: Venetian. It's interactive! I got pictures in bed with Hef, and my fella got one picking Harrison Ford's nose. Haha.
A Few Restaurants I Like:
Trattoria Reggiano: Venetian. Very small, like 12 tables. It's like $15 a person, near the food court in an unassuming corner. Get the handmade cheese tortelloni with homemade Alfredo sauce.
Firefly Tapas Lounge: Something foreveryone and sooo good. Really popular so it can be loud.
Pink Taco: Hard Rock. Silly name, but seriously good southwestern food. Only drawback is it can be expensive.
... I'd give you some asian recommendations but I dont like asian food. Sorry.
Other cool stuff worth mentioning:
The new TownCenter for shopping! It's near the south end of the strip.
The fortune teller caravan on Fremont Street. $14 for a palm reading. Super fun.
Fremont Street in general. And you've GOT to go to Girls of Glitter Gulch for fun! Or Talk of The Town. I love divey stripclubs.
Body English inside the Hard Rock on Sundays: It's Sunday school. Wear a school girl outfit and drink free champagne all night! They don't play hip hop either."

I LOVE Double Down and Firefly! Be sure to try the stuffed dates & red sangria at Firefly (my faves). I always have Ass juice at Double Down; haven't been brave enough to try the bacon martini yet (but one of my guy friends had 3 one night he liked them so much).
They have these mini books in the back of every cab that list restaurants, clubs, shopping, activities - grab one on your way from the airport to your hotel. You could flip thru it while unpacking & might see something that hasn't been mentioned on here that you'd like.

daaaang! i'm totally gonna print off Mediocrity's list for my next trip!!
last time i went i stayed at NY,NY and was too much of a puss to do the rollercoaster, even after i did the helicopter ride lol.
