    Default 'stipping' laws...

PLEASE MOVE THIS POST IF IT IS NOT IN THE APPROPRIATE FORUM
(I figured this was the best place....)

I'm going to start dancing in a month or so, and I would like to better know exactly what is considered legal (and illegal) in my home state (NC) and I am sure that this information could be very usefull for a newbie. I am in the process of using the 'googler' to find the strip club laws in my state because I would rather not have to rely on managers and club employees for this information as some of them may be ill-informed or just not give a damn. I want to dance and keep it PROFESSIONAL! I don't want run the risk of landing a charge because I was given faulty or incomplete information as that is no excuse in the eyes of the law. Besides sometime too much information is just enough!

So I am asking for ideas on how to find the most complete concise information on the internet...especially from my more computer/internet savy SWers, veteran members and dancers, moderaters, etc...

Thanks in advance and please feel free to post any ideas or info that you may have...

    Miss Mays

I will post any info or tips that I find in my search as well.

You are talking about a huge database of information. The laws regulating strip clubs vary, sometimes by a little as a zip code. Your best research method is to look in clubs and reviews for the area you wish to dance in.

Be sure to review your club in re; house fees, laws, and such so that others can see what it is like in your area.

Promote yourself and earn more money! This is a business that is owned by strippers for strippers. Let's make that money!

This is a good idea in theory, but you have to keep in mind that just because a law exists, doesn't mean it is enforced.

There's a big sign in the lap dance room at my club that says, "CONTACT IS PROHIBITED BY LOUISIANA LAW." I always get a good chuckle out of that while I'm humping some dude's lap.

So, in addition to the problems that Paris mentioned, there's the fact that the laws are often moot.

good point, that would be a huge amount of info...i brainstormed a little tooooooo far out there LOLing at myself!

i'm in the mood to be industrious and didnt even think about that...like how Asheville NC requires you to have a permint but other cities in NC don't...and the situation with the city of Atlanta being split between to counties and some of the ordinances are different...

hmmm maybe i'll get dressed and call a man and go hop some of the nudey joints in Charlotte this weekend and write some reviews....put my motivation to use somehow! lol

    thanks paris! ;-)

^^^ If you know the city you plan to dance in, go to the court website and there is normally a link to the laws. You can normally search for words like: stripper, stripping, erotic, exotic and those will pull up the pertinent laws. If you aren't sure how to interpret them though, speak to a lawyer. Many places have loosely written laws on purpose in order to be able to ticket/fine for whatever the government feels is necessary.

laws and ordinances can vary greatly by city....i currently work in the southern part of the Bay Area, but i've also worked in San Francisco...you wouldn't BELIEVE how different the "rules" are. i would ether read and re-read your contract when you first start, or contact the police department for a list of regulations in that city. never rely on the word of a dancer you don't know....chances are, it will be a crock of shit.
