Default Slow bartenders -- is it on purpose?

I have observed that the bartenders in the clubs that I visit tend to be pretty slow. It is not that they are lazy or incompetent or anything; actually they are quite busy. It takes relatively long time to get served. I understand that some guys want to spend several hours in a SC, so waiting 5 or 10 minutes before a bartender gets around serving a drink is no big deal, but I like to go inside, get LDs, and get out -- I really hate to be waiting for the privilege to give the bartender money for overpriced drinks. I spend a lot of time trying to get the attention of a bartender instead of paying attention to the dancers on the stage, or enjoying myself with the dancers one on one. This is especially problematic if I sit with a dancer and I want to offer her a drink. And don’t get me even started on how slow waitresses are.

My question is: why is the drink and food service in SCs so slow? If a club can have 40 dancers at a time, why can’t they have more than 2 bartenders and 2 waitresses? All bartenders and waitresses seem to be so incredibly rushed, so the problem is not with the bartenders. Why can’t clubs have more bartenders working? After all, serving drinks makes a lot of money going to the house. Is the service purposefully slow, as to allow force the customers to spend more time with the dancers? Or is it just me?

owners/management have to pay their waitresses and bartenders. strippers have to pay management. thus, it makes more money to have tons of dancers and fewer bartenders. guys that want beers will generally wait for them as long as they have to. there's no motivation to increase the speed of service when your product is guaranteed to sell regardless.

This night is gonna end when we're damn well ready for it to be over, worked all week long, and now the music is playing on our time. Yeah we do what we do to get by, and then we need a release!" - Against Me!, "Thrash Unreal"

I agree with Ruby. Also, how good of tipper are you? If you always leave at least double the regular tip, you will magically jump to the top of the bartender's list of people to get to. I used that trick when on a Cruise ship. I gave the bartenders cash$$ on top of the mandatory tip and I was never left waiting. I even got served at the front of the line, much to the frustration to my fellow drinkers. Luckily the bartender was a girl, or I'm sure I would have been labeled a slut or something.

^ You were probably still label a slut.

Yeah .... as an ex-bartneder, I agree. I had a few customers that it just didn't matter how many people there were crowing around my bar. My familiar faces ( consistely big tippers ), got served first even if they just barely walked up.

Simple. Bartenders and waitresses work for tips. Two bartenders make more money in tips on the same number of customers over a shift than three do. Same goes for waitresses. Dude, if you are at a strip club you are not going anywhere. Club management knows this. The bartenders know this. The waitresses know this. I don't know what your habits are when it comes to gratuities but in my experience generous tippers rarely go thirsty...

There have been many days where I have gone into a strip club, found my fav, bought my dances and left without ever being asked if I wanted a drink. Do I care? Not really, I don't go to strip clubs for the drinks, I go for the girls. BTW, I've never had a problem getting waitress service when I was sitting with a dancer.

Not to hijack thread, but its been my observation that one of the "laws of nature" is that server will be "Johnny on the Spot" when your drink is half full and are about to get up to tip/catch attention of a hot dancer. However, should you actually want drink service , every server in the place will whisk right by you, or have their back turned on you for eternity while engaged in lengthy conversation with other patron, or club employee.

i drink a lot in the club and usually when i come back to the same one i will find my waitress from before and if she doesnt remember me i will say something like you were fantastic last time, blah blah blah. I try to treat the wait staff very well and will complement them, whatever it takes to get remembered.

They usually hit me right when i have finished. I always tip 2.00 single drink, 3.00 double drink and 5.00 for three. At the end of the night i normally give her a 10 on the way out.

I have been doing that for years and never seem to have a problem. If it is a first time in the club i will call down a waitress or if i am approached by a dancer before i even get my first drink i will let her know i need a drink and if she can help i would be more than happy to get a dance from her. Its just one dance who cares......once i get the waitress i let her know upfront take care of me i take care of you.

i dunno. i've noticed that some nights they are prompt as hell at my club and other nights a guy can stand at the bar for 30 minutes straight without being served. i don't get it.
