Default Busted Escorting!!!What do I do now?!!

    Hello ladies!

It's been a very long time since I've posted here but I do lurk here and there but I'm in a dilemma at the moment and I know that the strong and intellegent ladies of this site can help me out!

First off, a little history about me, i'll keep it short. I worked as an escort for a little over 2 years. The first year I was into it was great. I made awesome money, met lots of interesting and kool guys, lots of trips to Las Vegas and other places, and money for my first apartment which I had INCALL ONLY clients.

It turned dark quickly for me when I started hanging out with the wrong crowd and got into drugs. My drug problem spiraled out of control and before I knew it, I spent everything I made on it and didn't pay my bills anymore. I decided I needed to move out of my apartment and move back home with my folks and get some help, which I did. I detoxed, and 3 weeks later I relapsed...started escorting again but doing OUTCALLS ONLY.

Well one day I wasn't getting any calls and I was desperate for money for my next fix. I got a call from a guy at a hotel which ironically was 4 doors down from my old apartment. So I drive there and I go into the room. It was an old man with nasty rotting teeth, I didn't think anything of it...just like many unpleasant clients I have delt with in my years of escorting...not to mention I had my mind on what I needed to get through my day without being sick...dope. So I ignored all the red flags that pointed to the fact he was a cop. To make a long story short, as soon as we were naked and on the bed and i was doing stuff with him when the door opened and the police swarmed in. They told me to get dressed and I was quickly arrested. They found drug paraphanilla in my purse but no drugs, and thank god i hadn't scored yet that day or I would be facing felony charges instead of 2 misdemenors. I was very upset...I made a living escorting for quite a long time without getting into trouble. But it figures the minute I let my guard down and get sloppy with screening my clients, I get busted. It was even more upsetting because the week before I got busted I had made an appointment to see an addiction specialist to help me get off of drugs. I was just trying to maintain until I got in to see him. I told the dectectives that I wanted a lawyer when we got to the police station, they all laughed hysterically in unison. I wanted to die right there. I was also not read my rights when I was arrested.

So i was taken to the police station, questioned, booked and put in jail until my mother came and bailed me out. I was strip searched by a female disbatcher. They took pictures of me, the works. It was humiliating to say the least. I guess the detectives had a room across the hall with survillance cameras and watched everything as it went on. But what I'm wondering is, could this be tossed out of court because they didn't come into the room the minute the money was exchanged and we were naked on the bed. Instead, they came in the room while we were literally IN THE MIDDLE of foreplay. Aren't they not allowed to do anything sexual with you? The actual crime is an EXCHANGE MONEY FOR THE AGREED SEXUAL INTERACTION? So now I'm facing prostitution charges and a paraphanilla charge. My pre-trial date is Feb 3rd. I have a shitty public defender that I don't have much faith in. This is also my first criminal offense, so I'm hoping that I get off on probation and maybe some fines.

But in good news, I am A MONTH AND A HALF SOBER!!! And I'm living and loving my life again. But the problem has been moving on from escorting after being in the biz for so long. I'm so used to making quick and easy money...and a lot of it. I have been researching cam shows but it would be kind of difficult for me to do that from my home because I live with my parents at the moment. I've tried getting regular jobs but its been difficult because I wasn't technically "employed" for over 2 years. I no longer have a car and that also limits me to the jobs I could try to get.

So my question is, what is a girl to do? And is there a way I could do cam work without the hassle of the parents? Any ideas or suggestions? And if you have ever gotten busted escorting, could you give me any advice on my case? I would very much appreshiate it!

Thank you ladies! You are all strong and beautiful women! Keep makin that cash! But don't let it make YOU like it did to me!

    Love Always,
    Miss Hollywood

Get a GOOD lawyer. Most first time arrests are pled down or even dismissed outright.

    I'm so sorry that happened.
Maybe you should only escort in a place where prostitution is legal.
The police did violate your rights.
And if the man was naked and participating you can get him in trouble for soliciting.

Technically if neither of you discussed payment can they bust you for prostitution?

I agree with Eric Stoner--a good lawyer is the BEST thing you can get right now. They are expensive, but if you have any way to come up with the funds, it will be the best investment you can make. Seriously, it's disheartening to see what impact a little bit of money has on the justice system. It can mean the difference between doing time and having the charges dropped.

I was arrested a few years back on felony possession charges. I got a good lawyer and got into a diversion program and after a year, the charges were dropped. They aren't on the record at all.

Also, look into doing things that will make you look good to the judge. Follow up with that addiction counseling. See about starting a rehab program (even though you're sober for 1.5 months, it will help a lot and will make you look good--like you're actively working to rehabilitate yourself). Maybe enroll in a night class or show that you're taking steps towards working a "straight" job. There are a lot of free programs designed to help women in the work force. The battered women shelter might also be able to help you out. Call 211 to see what resources your area has.

When you go in for the arraignment or pre-trial hearing, make sure to look very fresh-faced and wholesome and well-dressed. They will want to label you as a no-good hooker, so make your appearance work for you to fight that stereotype. I wore minimal makeup, simple hair. Not saying you have to look like a nun--just keep it very conservative.

About the cam shows--do you have a private bedroom or a laptop? If that won't work, what about doing phone sex?

Also, CONGRATULATIONS ON BEING SOBER FOR 1. 5 MONTHS!!! That is an incredible accomplishment, and I hope you are proud of yourself.

i think stripping would be a bad idea for her right now. it would be way to easy for her to be sucked right back into that lifestlye, especially since she has a history with drug abuse. she would be overwhelmed with drugs and "extras" going on in the club atmosphere, and it might be very hard for her to resist...especially since she has only been sober for a month in a half. Winged Dinghy gave some very good advice on how to move forward with her legal batters and her life in general. IMO, the adult industry is the WRONG place for her to be right now.

but yes, CONGRATS again on being sober. one day at a time, hun

I danced for 4 years, long before I ever escorted. Unfortunately, in the state of Ohio many laws have been passed against the adult entertainment industry here and you can't even give a guy a lap dance in a club anymore without being cited and arrested for a "violation" which makes it nearly impossible to make any money. Its why I got into the escorting industry to begin with.

Unfortunately, I lost literally EVERYTHING because of my drug addiction and don't have a penny to my name right now so I absolutely can not afford a kick ass lawyer. I just have to make due with my public defender and see what happens. She really sucks though. She gave me the wrong court date, so I was a "no show" for my pre-trial. Thank god they rescheduled it instead of putting a warrant out for my arrest. It's Feb 3rd, wish me luck girls!

And the person that said i should stay away from the adult industry(well, besides cam because thats in the privacy of my own home and i am not having sex for money)is absolutely right. If i want to stay sober, I have to really stay away from the industry. It sucks you in. It's how I got in this mess to begin with.

I must say, it's been hard to stay away from the industry. I've been in the industry for almost 7 years total...stripping and escorting. I had a regular job as a waitress for not even a week and quit because it was too stressful and i felt it would jeopradize my sobriety. So i'm currently looking for something a little less fast paced, like retail. The only thing making me cringe is the ENORMOUS pay cut...*sigh*

The past year of my life has been the most difficult one i've ever had in my life so far...*sigh*just getting through the day without doing heroin is an accomplishment. Getting off drugs, staying off drugs and changing your life is SOOOOOOOOO unbelievably hard. It's like being an infant and learning how to walk and talk all over again. I hate it. But the only reward i've gotten from it so far is the love and support of my family which makes all the struggle worth it.

Thank you for your great advice ladies!

The "man" was an undercover detective. It was a sting operation with a video camera planted in the room somewhere. The rest of the detectives were across the hall in another room watching on survelance monitors. They let it go as far as me naked on the bed as well as him being naked, and me jacking his dick and sucking him off for a few minutes before they came into the room to make the arrest. I'm just confused as to why they let it get THAT far instead of comming into the room right when the money was exchanged, we were naked and on the bed. They busted another girl before I got there, we shared a jail cell together. She was married and was about to get her electric shut off at her home, so behind her husbands back she was tricking to pay the bills they couldn't. It's sad really...just goes to show you how desperate our economy has gotten and the lenths people will go to get the money they need. For her it was a bill, for me it was a drug habit but when i first started escorting it was because my parents kicked me out of their house and I had no money to get a place of my own. It started out as survival, then ended up being the death of me.

I look at prostitution like this, it's MY body to sell. It's perfectly legal to give away for free, why can't I sell it? It was better I sold my body to get what I needed than rob a gas station and possible killed somebody in the process or steal things from my friends and family. If prostitution was legal it would save tax payers money on dumb unnessisary things like what happened to me and they could focus more on what the police SHOULD be doing like arresting murderers, rapists, drug dealers, women and child abusers, ect. THOSE are the people that should be sitting in a jail cell, not ME. Just my opinion.

I think it's time for you to hit the books! You didn't tell us where you are from, so it's hard for us to do any research for you. Right now your best bet is probably 1) get a lawyer - even if you can't pay upfront - get on a payment plan. 2) Look for your local court online and read the laws.

I don't know much of that industry, but from what I've heard what they did to you was illegal. The undercover cop should not have been allowed to interact with you sexually.

This is such a common, sad story, though I'm sure not common for you or what you thought was going to happen.

Practically speaking, I don't think you can get the case thrown because of police techniques you've explained. Police aren't and are not supposed to be models for all of us. They are allowed to lie and trick suspected perpetrators, illegal or not, in order to catch them. Most DAs or courts will not wince at all over this.

Maybe showing 'deep honest contrition' to the judge about ever getting into drugs and thus being 'forced' in a sense by your past addiction to prostitute and getting into a program and doing education will help as much as anything else. Not just crying about it, as the law will assume you're just scared of the consequences. You should show concern for your future and show that you recognize that drug addiction will be a lifetime thing to avoid for you. Doesn't matter if you think now, the court will be convinced it's so from their experience with hard-core addicts.

Do a LOT more than your pro-bono 'lawyer' suggests; lawyers don't seem to count their pro-bono record in their success ratings. I suspect you will be very busy arranging all that 'contrition' in the next couple of days, if you haven't already gotten your act together.

    Good luck in court!

I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

NOTE: anything I post here, outside of a direct quote, is my opinion only, which I am entitled to. Take it for what you estimate it is worth.

    Thanks for the advice.

But if you would have read my entire post you would have seen that i've "gotten my act together" and i'm already in a drug recovery program. I have been for over 2 months now. And I have everything I need from my doctor to bring to court to prove it as well as all my urinalysis tests that show i've been clean. I had called to get the help a week before I got busted. So i'm not getting help because I got into trouble, it's because I wanted the help. It was my first offense so, worst case senario they are gonna put me on probation for awhile. Tuesday is court...whatever happens is gonna happen.

Thank you everybody for your advice.

this may sound bad. i think you should hook and get a REAL lawyer. it's the only way you are going to get out of it or charges reduced. you could ask at your pretrail for a continuance in order to retain a lawyer.
i have never heard of them going thru with the actual beginning of the act before. here in fl the girls sometimes ask for the guy to get naked before her for that very reason. that part was utter bullshit. the cop gets a to see and have you touch him before they burst in.wtf?

I read that and it certainly should help your case. I believe they like to see a person doing a lot to recover, including NA, education, changing their 'friends', etc. Documentation will help too.

Good luck with your court date.

I absolutely can not escort anymore. I live with my parents and I have no car. So I can't have incall and I can't do outcalls either. Plus, I am a recovering drug addict, only two months sober, and I know myself well enough to know that the minute I get fast money like that, I'll be knockin on my dealers door. Plus I don't need to get in any more trouble. Pre-trial is tomorrow afternoon. It's a little too late to be searching around for another lawyer, not even just that but I am BROKE. So broke, that I'm actually about to file for backruptcy so thats one lawyer I'm already going to have to pay. I don't need two to folk over every cent I do make when I actually get some shitty minimum wage job. It's just not an option.

It's my first criminal offense. They are misdemenor offenses,at that. They'll give me probation and a bunch of fines and pain in the ass shit. But I doubt I'll do jail time. Highly doubt it, in fact.

Thanks everyone. I'll let you know how everything goes tomorrow.

I know it's been said, but if there is any way possible you can do it-get a real lawyer. Even though it's your first offense and you'll get probation, having a criminal record will haunt you for the rest of your life.

Take it from someone who knows. I have a few drug charges and a theft charge (all misdemeanors) from well over ten years ago and I can't get a straight job to save my life.

And this is after going to college AND grad school with an excellent resume from jobs that I acquired before criminal history checks were so commonplace.

Believe me, you do not want these marks on your record. After I finished school and moved back home, I looked for jobs for seven months. I kicked ass at the interviews and was offered job after job only to have them rescinded after they ran my background.

In a nutshell, this is why I'm a stripper. I'm very bitter over the fact that the stupid things I did as a teen (I was 19 when I got all of those charges and I'm 31 now) trumps all of the good that I've done since. Even if you're just as if not more qualified than the person sitting next to you, they will always get chosen instead of you because they don't have a criminal history.

It's fucked up, incredibly sad and unfortunately true. Please do whatever you can to keep what happened to me from happening to you.

I know you mentioned Ladies but if you don't mind a big city detective [retired] helping you out with some advice from the other side of this equation I'll mention a few things that might be of some use to you.

    1) Odds are the guy with the bad teeth wasn't a cop but a confidential informant the cops were using for this sting.

Officers are allowed to get naked, etc, in such stings but it is frowned upon in a very big way by departments and particularly prosecutors as it is VERY embarrassing when it comes time to go to court and the officer has to get on the witness stand and defense counsel makes him run through a blow by blow of what he did.

CI's, not being cops, have less departmental issues but prosecutors still don't like it, as defense counsels run the CI through the process on the stand as to how the people's money was used to purchase him sex.

A good lawyer knows all of this, which is where I get to part 2) Get a good lawyer.

You were caught dead to rights but a plea arrangement is going to be the prosecutors desired result. S/he isn't going to want to put this CI on the stand and have them explain to a judge [and it will be a judge as in most states prostitution and paraphernalia are misdemeanors/offences, which is also why you didn't get read Miranda rights, because they aren't necessary in such circumstances - just felonies/crimes].

A good attorney will get you the best deal. If this is your first offence that would likely be probation. You might even get the equivalent of what we call, in NJ, PTI [pretrial intervention]. This is where you plead to an offence and if you stay out of trouble for X amount of time [frequently a year] your sentence is set aside and the matter expunged [removed from the public record].

So, the most important thing is to speak to your parents and do what you can to get hold of decent representation. Ditch the over-worked, under-paid, public defender who sees you simply as a docket entry she has to move off her desk to some conclusion that may very well not have your best interests involved.

Wishing well and keeping a good thought for you...

BTW, while we are on the subject, is it needed to point out the obvious: That it is just possible that if you are willing to judge the worth of someone simply by what you read on a website about them it might say a whole hell of a lot more about you than it says about the person you are judging?

Just for the record, in what Ms H wrote above nothing I read indicated her rights were violated.

She wasn't read Miranda, but Miranda isn't required for offences. Just felonies.

She was detained incident to arrest and searched by a female employee of the police department. Perfectly legal in all 50 states. Ms H suggested that she believes she was viewed by officers with monitors but she stated no evidence to raise the statement above mere subjection. If there was a camera in the room she was searched in this is legal and for her protection as well as the departments against claims made against it. Its presence is no indication that it feeds into an area where male members of the department are watching.

The CI got naked with her and began foreplay before she was arrested, but this isn't illegal or a violation of her rights either. Though I fully acknowledge it is bad policy and apt to get the department involved a nasty gram from the local prosecutor's office.

Unless you saw something I missed I would state for those following along, and only because I believe in good information being used for making such crucial decisions when bad things happen to otherwise good people, that no one hang their hat on the notion that the police violated their rights if the above statements of Ms H are the entirety of what the police did in said circumstances.

    Good luck in court!

Public defenders are not necessarily pro-bono lawyers. Most are being specifically paid to defend indigents. Most are public employees that come with all the pros and cons for the client of being involved with over-worked, under-paid, government employees.

What she needs is a good pro-bono lawyer. Which are usually lawyers from decent firms who are doing charity work to elevate the public view of the company or gain experience in certain aspects of the law [sometimes both].

Why not go work in a legal brothel for a month or so? Legal, safe, clean and full accomodations.

^^ That may be a way to get money for a lawyer. But it sure doesn't show anything the law woulld want to see. So when she does get a lawyer, and tells him this, he also will be very unpleased and it will make his work for her very difficult.

In short this is very bad advice.

I didn't read the whole thread, just the first post. I just always figure if someone is escorting anyway, why do it where you can get busted and get these fines, when you can go somewhere legal to do it? Especially somewhere where you get access to healthcare and panic buttons.

I dunno if it would make it difficult in the end, because wouldn't it at least show she has taken her "business" to a legal establishment?

I dont know. It made sense in my head.
