    Default Selling Jewelry

I have a diamond ring that I want to sell, having recently come into a better piece of jewelry. The ring I want to sell is appraised (as of this morning) at about $3,000 bucks, though I know better than to try to get that out of a buyer. If I got $1000 out of it, I'd be a happy camper. Thing is, how should I go about it? Selling for scrap is not an option. Ebay looks VERY bleak. Most of the auctions are receiving no bids at all, and the ones that are receiving bids started at 99 cents and have only gone up to $130 or so. Not good. Even right before V-day, too! Anyone have a suggestion?

Or is anyone in the market for a diamond ring? I can give more information in private messages. I just don't want to broadcast it all here . . .

I'd suggest craigslist. Maybe post on there pictures and the appraisal. If I were to buy a diamond not from a jewelry store I'd want to see it in person first so you'll probably get replies asking to come by and look at it.

Just be careful!^ Sometimes, in the newspaper, they have listings about mass jewelery buys. They're usually held at a hotel during the day. You don't need an appt., just show up, sign in & wait. I brought stuff to one, but it was a while ago, I don't think they were buying what I had, or weren't offering a lot.
I'd think it'd be hard to sell anything, w/the economy everyone basically trying to sell stuff, but you never know. Good luck.

I'd list it on craigslist if you are set on selling it now. Personally, I'd wait until after the recession so you can get more money out of it.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I'll put an ad on craigslist just to see what happens, but I won't set it so low that I feel crappy about selling it. If it doesn't sell, well, I'll just wait. I just wonder how long this stupid recession will last . . . if we'll ever come out of it . . .
