    Default Coin Magnet

I'm starting dancing in a couple weeks and when I've been to clubs before I've seen the dancers use these round magnets on strings to pick up the tips they got during the loonie toss. Does anyone know where I could find one of those? I googled it but had no luck finding anything. If anyone knows of a site that sells them, I'd appreciate it if you could let me know. Thanks!

canada! it's the dollar coin. many of canada's coins are made of metals that stick to magnets.

I'm quite glad we don't have that in the states. My first night ever stripping, on my first stage set, some dickwad started flicking quarters at me, and that shit fucking hurts.

I don't know what you're talking about (sorry!), and I'm sure this isn't what you're talking about, but this is all I could come up with:

    http://www.magnet4less.com/index.php...4a84d3774a4aba

Maybe you could cut them into thin strips?

IMO there is nothing more disrespectful than someone throwing coins on stage. This has happened a couple of times and the asshole gets them thrown right back at them, and not nicely.

In Canada we don't have 1 dollar bills, so dancers are typically tipped with coins. The loonie game (at least here in Alberta) is played at the end of a dancer's set where she sits on a blanket and moves around the stage holding a rolled up poster. The point of the game is to get enough loonies into the poster. Throw enough loonies or toonies and you can win the promo poster of the dancer or a magnet or keychain etc. Dancers make a lot of money with this game! Another variation of the gam is the dancer will stick the coins onto their bodies and you have to throw the coin to knock the coin off their body.

To the poster: doesn't the club provide the dancer with the magnetized chain?

No club in Canada will provide a dancer with supplies she needs for stage!

In Alberta you can get magnets from Denny @ Showtime, or you can ask the agent or any DJ...you will definitely get a quick answer from them!

For as many of you that believe coin tossing is degrading...many clubs in Canada have a barrier rule which prohibits a dancer taking a tip from a customer.

Many dancers use a container to toss coins into...and when you are pulling between $25 and $500 off stage each set (4 per day)...you add it up!

Would not complain about that kind of money.

I'm a major n00b so I don't know, it seems to depend where you go. I've done two amateur nights and at one club one of the bouncers went around after each dancer's set with a magnet and picked up the coins, and at the other club I went to it looked like the dancers each had their own magnet they went around with after their set. I didn't have one available and didn't think to bring any sort of a container so I ended up doing kind of a lame sexy crawl around the stage to get all the coins...I probably looked like a total dork, but hey, I left with $70 in loonies!

I would be afraid of drunk assholes beaming me in the face with coins.

Alena... I'm from Edmonton! I have been trying to get the courage to message you actually since you're from Alberta hahaha because I really want to dance but somehow it just seems so intimidating here to try and get into it... did you mind if I PMed you?

I know that at Diamond's in Edmonton they have a guy with the coin magnet pick up the tips for the girl but most places the girl does it herself...

Alena, do you have a photo of these magnets? This is the first I've heard of them, but I'm really curious! Is there anything special about them?

Not at night...that's when the stars have rather better things to do. They're coming out, shining, that sort of thing.

I'm in southern AB, but not Calgary. One of the clubs I did an amateur night at was in Calgary though.

    ex0t1ca...feel free to pm me!

I will see if I have a pic of my old magnet...it was covered with a dalmation stuffy! Made it look like I was taking my dog for a walk instead of dragging a magnet!!LOL!

For the most part, you can get them custom done with your name, special color metal & cord. They can be very individual if you want...or they can be plain silver metal!
