Default please help, i am sooo depressed from this pain

hey girls. I have been having on and off problems with my left knee since I started dancing...before then, I never had even the slightest problem with it. I have not been dancing for about 2 months now and have seen no improvement in my knee pain, in fact it has actually gotten a bit worse. My knee hurts on the inner side; just below the medial knee joint. It is cold to the touch. It is not like a shooting pain and it is not made worse or better by any specific activity. Basically it is like an achy, sore, cold throbbing pain that is constantly there. I have tried a cortizone shot and some stretching of the hamstrings and calfs but neither have helped. It is so bad that doing every day things is a challange. I can't work out and I am getting really out of shape and depressed. I have had 2 MRIs... no meniscus tears, ligament injuries, cartilage is ok, no arthritis. Any idea what this could possibly be? Have you ever had anything like this from dancing or am I just one unlucky individual? pleaseeeeeee help PS...sorry so long

it's cold to the touch? maybe blood somehow isn't circulating in it properly.

i would see a physical therapist about it. even if they can't identify the specific source, they might be able to help you come up with ways to slowly fix it, or at the very least ways to work out the rest of your body without causing you pain.

Check the synovium in your knee. On my cheerleading squad a couple of years ago, I had a teammate who was complaining about knee pain. It turned out that the synovium membrane was infected and had to be removed. It's a rare case and she said a new membrane developed after 6 months. I truly hope the condition of your knee is something minor. Get better.

If its a shooting pain, it sounds like a nerve. A bakers cyst is usually behind the knee and you would feel or see a cyst. I would recommend seeing your MD if you have insurance, but if you have had a negative xray and MRI, they probably will just recommend pain meds. You could try chiropractic or massage that specializes in sports type injuries, as long as your MD rules out something more serious.

    Good luck!

I don't know if anyone else would agree with me on this. But the strain we put on are bodies are similar to that of an athlete. We are on our feet for 4 or more hours in 6 inch plus heels and moving our bodies in ways that are not done in everyday life to look seductive. Just think, in heals, squatted down while doing booty bumps. Yeah, very very strenuous I would say. Doing splits, twirling around on poles? That takes practice and skill.

Anywho. Whenever I have muscle pain I increase my protein. Protein is great for muscle restoration. I'm not saying you shouldn't get a doctor's advice on your situation but I do think that keeping in mind the things you do on stage will put in to percpetive the pains that you are having now.

The other night I was thinking, man it felt like someone just punched me in my ribs. Then I started paying attention to the way I arched my back when dancing. No wonder. If you say you've only been dancing for a couple of months. Maybe your body just needs to get used to the new range of motion. I'm new to dancing too. So I'm just thinking that all these pains that I'm feeling are expected and my body will get used to it.

You may want to see a massage therapist. One with plenty of years of experience. I had trouble with my knees for months then one night when I was at the club I met this guy that did massage therapy on old people..lol..and he did something at the top of my calves just below my knee on the front and back and something just above my knee. I don't know what the hell he did but I have not had trouble since and it has been nearly two years now. The doctor couldn't find anything wrong and just gave me some NSAIDS for the pain and inflamation. I wish I would have gotten this guy's number cause damit he was good.

I fell off the pole and hurt my right knee. I had water on my knee for 7mths and it would almost go away then come back. I thought I chiped my knee cap or pulled it. I would use icy hot on it and wrap it with saran wrap and an ace bandage. I finally took off work for 4 weeks and it healed. my shoes and constant banging wasnt allowing it to heal right. maybe wear some shorter shoes if you have to work, lay off the pole tricks (cause you probably use the leg more than the other one) wrap it at night. use ice then heat it up with a heating pad then wrap it. hopefully this helps but I would try this first before you spend anymore money on a doctor.
