Oh no.
Terrible to see things like this.

I know it's horrible, but ah...this doesn't shock me, honestly. I remember knowing a girl a few years back who was pregnant at 12 and had the child at 13.
The Sun is kinda reaching on this one.

This is so common in urban ghettos. Most of my girlfriends growing up had babies by 12, fathers being no more than 13. My sister had her baby 2 weeks shy of her sweet 16. And that was considered old. I wonder if they are making news of this because he looks shockingly younger than 13. In any case, it's just still plain sad to see. Poor baby...

My cousin got pregnant at 12. Her 16 year old sister got pregnant at the same time, the due dates were 2 days apart. They found out later that they had the same baby daddy.

Is it really that common?, Its shocking us here in the UK
xoxo

yeah i heard this on the news too, the poor boy looks about 8 tho lol, but...... he is havin dna tests to see if it really is his baby, poor lad, prob his first ever shag and he gets a girl preggers
its pretty common to have really young mums, but i dont think its as common to have really young dads?
there was a girl in my seventh grade gym class who was pregnant. i think that would have made us around 12/13.
a friend of mine's 14 year old sister has had two abortions.
glad to see our abstinence only education is working so well!
"If she wants to dance and drink all night, well there's no one that can stop her. She's going til the house lights come up or her stomach spills onto the floor. This night is gonna end when we're damn well ready for it to be over, worked all week long, and now the music is playing on our time. Yeah we do what we do to get by, and then we need a release!" - Against Me!, "Thrash Unreal"

Why the need to bring politics into this?? I don't think the UK is an abstinence education country. If you want to get into personal stories.... the first girl I met when we moved to our house (7 1/2) had a sister 3 years younger then us. She started having sex at age 12, older sis at 15. Younger sis was one in our group of friends who contracted HIV/ AIDS, older sis has HIV, and it killed several of the guys. Both girls have had upteen abortions. ohhh, this is before AE. Being a prude and setting high standards saved me from their fate. Not only are they on the govt dole, but criminals, prostitution to identity theft (and lots of things in between).
Quite sad, acrually.

Speak for yourself hun. I personally think that children should be learning about sex and its consequences (pregnancy, STDs, social stigma, what have you) as soon as they ask "where do babies come from?".
I was 8 when I called my mother out on the stork being a lie. First of all, I knew that the baby was in the belly, so it had to come out some how. Being a nurse, she sat me down with one of her medical textbooks from college and asked me if I really wanted to know. I told her yeah, so she used the book for complete accuracy while she explained it to me in terms that I would understand. After finding out how they were born, I asked how a woman got pregnant, and she explained sex to me. I asked if there was a way to keep from getting pregnant. She told me that you could just not have sex, or use a condom (the most effective and the easiest one to explain to a kid). She also told me that condoms prevented most of the diseases you could get from sex.
Even though I went on to lose my virginity at 13 and have been very active sexually since, because my mother had told me all of this (plus more as I got older, like explaining oral/anal sex, other contraceptives, different STDs, etc) I was able to make the smart decision of using protection. I get STD screenings regularly (always test negative too) and lead a very healthy sex life because of the education she's given me.
Even though alot of people say my education came too young and are critical of her decision to teach me about sex at such a tender age, I plan to do the same when I have children. I've watched too many girls have children and get STDs at a young age because their parents and educators did not provide them with adequate education early enough.
So before you point fingers at "sluts", ask what education they were given. I've seen girls who started having sex younger than me lead very normal, healthy lives with good jobs and good morals because there was some one in their lives who taught them about protection methods. At the same time, I've seen "prudes" who wound up riddled with disease and raising more children than they could handle because they were only told "don't do it" and no idea how to protect themselves when they finally did.

Wow so young. I cannot imagine just beginning my life with having a cihld before I got a chance to grow up. That is crazy. I wish them the best of luck. Wow.
i don't live in the uk. i live in the us. i was only taught abstinence only education, ever. teachers weren't allowed to talk about condoms, birth control, or even use the word abortion with us.
and in that article, it says the uk is still far short of the rate of teen pregnancy in america.
what i said in that post refers solely to my own experiences with teen pregnancy. in no way am i trying to brag, so congratulations or whatever on the kids you grow up with dying of hiv and being criminals, it's not like it's a contest or something. and congratulations too on being a "prude" and "saving yourself" from their awful fate.
everyone's decisions are their own. but an informed decision is far, far better than an uninformed one. and acting like abstinence only education will in any way prevent kids from having sex is just downright stupid.

To begin, you are implying that they suffered a slut's fate by saying that being a prude saved you from turning out like them. Secondly, I didn't mean to imply that the "pointing fingers" comment was aimed directly at you- it was a general statement to anyone who clings to the archaic belief that girls with many partners are the ones who end up with unwanted pregnancies and STDs.
As for the girls being taught about it, what did that education include? It doesn't help if they're simply told "use it" but never told where to get them. My first godchild was a result of this, and I feel partly to blame for it. The girl's mother refused to let her take our abstinence-only sex-ed in school and never discussed sex with her daughters, even though it was a constant thing in their lives due to her bringing home her boyfriends and never hiding evidence of having sex with all of them. Of course, I had discussions with her older sister who was my age about my sex life and my protection methods, often times with my godchildren's mother present, but I never thought to mention just WHERE I had obtained my condoms or the pills while I was on them. She knew to use them, but because the only people who talked about it around/with her had forgotten to say where she could get them, she didn't use them when she lost her virginity and got pregnant.
I just happened to be lucky enough to learn everything from methods, to where to get them, to several diseases- curable and not- from my mother over the years as she taught me. And that "do as thou wilt" bit? My mother gave me the same attitude. She only said "I'd prefer you wait until you're at least 15, since that's when I lost mine, but when you decide to, you will anyways. Just be sure that you're ready and that you're safe when you do. If there's anything you need [condoms, pills, she even got me a toy once when I decided to stay abstinent for a while], tell me and I'll help you get it."
But, even though I know plenty, there is one thing that no one can ever truly predict, regardless of education and influence- the human factor. While I stand by my opinion that the genuinely ignorant shouldn't be blamed for their circumstance, some one who HAS been educated but neglects their knowledge should be held responsible for their wrecklessness.

On an off-topic side note- I would hardly call the addage of "do as thou wilt" crap. Considering that I am Wiccan, I believe 100% in the last two line of the Rede- being "An' if it harm none, do as thou wilt". If you're actions harm no one (in a negative way, anyways), then what you do is your business and yours alone. No one has the right to judge you, nor do you have the right to judge others.
Of course, in terms of each sexual encounter, there is a second (or for some of the wilder girls, third, fourth or fifth) person to consider as well, so you should never have unprotected sex unless ALL parties involved are stable/sober enough to decide that they can indeed deal with any possible consequence.
In the same respect, consider what harm can be done if you DON'T act. Some times, the words unspoken can do more damage than the words that are.

No I'm not. I could have have been both of their firsts, but 12 is too young (even when I was 15). The part about being a prude and setting high standards is just that, that I want to minimize my risk. ohhh, and it wasn't just them, the guys that I mentioned that have already died form AIDS, were the guys **most** guys wanted to be in HS (except me), and they got around.
It's about risk management and personal choices Nothing judgmental or name calling about it.
But which knowledge? liberal, conservative? Responsible how? In a conservative way, or in a liberal way? Come on, people could get the same 'knowledge' and think differently about it. Doesn't really make either side wrong.

I've never said either.
It's funny that you attacked AE blindly, and when you are corrected in that that never played a role, that it was the other side, you still attack. That is your problem, you can't accept that your agenda is not the ultimate solution.
If you want to teach it to your kids, go right ahead. I'll teach mine how I want. Just please, leave it out of school.

You don't have to SAY anything. It's all about what you're inferring, and the inference is that those girls were sluts because they were taught about birth control, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense. No one's saying "Here's a condom! Go fuck everyone willy-nilly!", it's just recognizing that kids are gonna do that shit no matter WHAT you teach them and it's better that they be prepared instead of being completely uninformed about their own bodies, and what those bodies do when their little teenage hormones are hosting a kegger 24/7. Of course it won't hve a 100% success rate, but what does? Contraception education has been proven to lower the STD and teen birth rate.
But I digress. We've all seen how well conservative-sponsored abstinence-only education works, right?
So, let's see...what about inner-city kids whose parents are completely incapable of teaching them to tie their shoes, let alone talking to them about using condoms? Would you rather they be taught about contraception in school, or would your conservative self rather see them drop out of school and raise children who would probably just live off of your hard-earned tax dollars? Hmmmmmmm?

There is no inference. You're tranferring your prejudices upon me.
So if kids are going to engage in ilicit behavior 'anyway', we should just have a course to teach them how to do it properly?
Maybe we could have a course to make the parents more responsible, like teaching discipline, something that is seriously lacking.

Uh, no I'm not. I actually read what you wrote and summed it up pretty nicely, IMHO.
Summary:
Your friends were sluts
They are sluts because they were taught about birth control, thus "teaching them how to have sex"
They would not have been sluts had they been given an abstinence-only education, like yourself.
If it saves lives, why not? Would you rather they possibly die or ruin their lives instead?
Hahahahahahahahahaha...I wonder how many inner-city parents would show up for THAT meeting!!
I like how you completely avoid every valid point I made and focused on this one little thing. You def. do your conservative brethren proud. Tell Bristol I said hi!
