    Default i quit

Last week I started at a Deja Vu, and I ended up quitting a week later. I just don't know if I'm cut out to be a stipper. I commend all you ladies for what you do. You are all so strong both physically and mentally. Thank you all for the tips and advice on this bored. You helped a great deal answering my questions about things that I had no idea about. xox

You are very welcome. Starting to work as a stripper took a lot of guts on your part, and I'm sure you learned a thing or two from the experience. You're right that it's not for everybody, but congrats on trying something new. We're always here for you if you need support.

To be fair- Deja Vu has a reputation of being one of the worst working environments you can be in. You might want to branch out and try other clubs before you throw in the towel just yet!

Please don't base your experience on just one club! If this is still something that interests you, try another club! Look through Club Chat and the Reviews section for ther clubs that look promising. Go to a few, and just see. You don't have to get hired again if you don't want to, but every club is different, sometimes drastically so within the same city.

If that's you in your avatar, you're certainly pretty enough! I bet you'll do great once you find the right club.

I absolutely agree. The club and the people around you, both other dancers and customers, will certainly be the deciding factor in making or breaking the experience. Find a club that has a positive, safe environment, and it will almost certainly make an enormous difference. Deja Vu clubs are rather notorious for NOT providing that kind of environment.

I started at a super sh*tty club for the first time, and lasted a whole 3 days before deciding stripping wasn't for me. I made about $1000 in those 3 days total.

THEN months later I decided to work up the nerve and try another club, where I made $1100 my first NIGHT and absolutely had a blast from there on out.

The "stripping experience" is 90% based on the club you are in, IMO.

If you ever have a chance to travel I would definitely try a different state all together. I've only ever danced in Michigan, and from my experience and from what I've heard it's one of the worst places to dance. I've only danced in Lansing, but it's nothing short of horrible. I don't blame you for quitting, but I also want you to know that the dancing in Michigan isn't going to be like most other places. We definitely have to deal with much more BS here. It's very draining.

If you are still interested in dancing I would suggest you try somewhere other than the Vu.

They are not the best clubs to work in.

Deja Vu is like the McDonald's of strip clubs with the same kind of management and work environment minus polyester uniforms and getting grease burns.

I personally have had great luck with the Vu clubs, but you have to learn how to work their specific system. I'm with the others though that you really should try some other clubs before giving up.

What kind of things help you work their system? There's a Deja Vu here that I've thought trying out, but I haven't yet because of all the awful things I've heard.

    Vu sucks.
You might wanna try a few other clubs before hanging up your pretty dancing shoes. Its takes time to find a good place.

The biggest one is upselling. I can't say if all of the Vu clubs allow it, but in San Francisco they did and the managers and area managers heavily encouraged it. The only bad thing was that they didn't tell you what everyone else was charging. Basically the Vu was taking $10 on every lap dance. The starting price for lap dances was $20, which was the price on the club signs. So basically a customer says "How much is a dance" and you say "Prices start at $20 fully clothed, no touching." You then give them a menu of prices according to what is allowed in your club and what you are comfortable with. On this system it's pretty easy to work yourself up to over $100 for a single dance (no extras). So you can make $100 for the dance and still only tip out $10 to the club plus the regular house fee and tips to staff. This was really the best system I ever learned and now I always ask before I start at clubs whether or not they allow upselling because you can bank at the places that allow it!

This isn't a real good time to be in this industry. A lot of dancers who have other options are choosing to take time off right now. It's not really the money, it's more the kind of customers that strip clubs are attracting now. Most guys who will treat dancers with respect and pay for their time don't come in anymore. Desperation of dancers and crude acts aren't very sexy to the type of guy who used to come in. So, it's tough now. Maybe take some time with us, until maybe things work themselves out. If they don't, I don't think that stripping is good for someone who sounds as nice and genuine as someone like yourself. Strip clubs are not positive environments for the most part anymore.
