    Default Iv given up everything!

Well, booze, bread, coffee, and junk food.

I didnt mean to but I had a massive hangover last Saturday, so thats put me off the booze (obviously), I coudnt bare coffee till Monday. Then when I did have one monday morning I got all nervous like I had a driving test or something coming up. So Iv given up coffee too.

Bread I stopped buyng because I was eating toast instead of proper food all the time- lazy, and it was making my stomach stick out.

So I thought Id spend out on some good Olive Oil instead of a bottle of wine and make healthy food instead of stuff from packets.

Last time I gave up booze I did it for a month, so gonna do that again then maybe extend it.

Its all going good, apart from me being a bit `flat`, due to lack of caffiene. I feel like Iv lost my spark, does it come back? All non-reliant on coffee and all the better for it?
I feel like my personality has gone a bit miserable.

Coffee is the only thing I miss

Why don't you try caffinated tea?

I personally cannot deal with caffiene but you can get some really good herbal tea thats caffinated to help you in the morning

Im trying to do without the caffiene. I just had a decaff coffee now, it was nice

Well, as nice as you can get it with soya milk. Forgot to add Iv given up dairy milk too. Dairy milk makes my nose sniffley.

But, saying that, maybe the caffiene hit off Tea isnt as intense? Might be better...

Wow, good luck. I'm addicted to bread, junk food and dairy and I'm failing miserably in the give it up department (but I have zero willpower).

You should get your spark back after a few days off the caffeine. Make sure you're staying hydrated, eating fruits and veggies, taking your vitamins, and getting in some physical activity. That usually helps to keep the energy level up. Decaf coffee has some caffeine in it so you're still getting a little... I don't know what the switch to tea would do.

People forget that caffiene is an addictive substance. Caffinated tea has just as much caffiene as coffee, especially the darker teas. It will take time to get over the withdrawls. You will be alright in a couple of weeks.

If you get a good natural or organic chinese green tea, it will energize you without the bad side effects of coffee, two a day can help if your used to multiple coffees a day.

Yay for getting healthy! I quit drinking alcohol five years ago. I gave up coffee two years ago. I now take B12 for that boost that caffeine used to give me.

    Aaah! Awesome!

I know when I gave up booze last June my tummy got smaller. Im hoping giving up bread will help too, didnt think that Milk could make me bloat too.

Im not giving up cheese though! haha! On the plus side, goats cheese in veggi mash is lush, so at least Im getting my veggies!

Oh, I caved on the caffeine already...................I was always undecided on that one anyway.

Its the booze thats most important, then bread, then milk.

Oh! And I gave up eating animals with 4 legs last Autumn.

Thinking of giving up casual sex too..............but that decision is similar to the coffee one
Altho casual sex without booze? Maybe not so fun.........

I used Paul Mkennas CD to help me quit smoking. If you really do wanna quit it will make it possible. If you dony really wanna truly you will find a way round it.

But after my first listen I forgot how to hold a cigarette, and coudnt bare the thought of smoke in my lungs. I still feel that way too, that CD is amazing.

congrats, i'm def in the same boat as you - i have given up alcohol due to an incident last week where i took a strange pill and ended up in the ER (i def wouldn't have taken it if i hadn't been drunk) and i don't really like drinkin much anyway.

As for the coffee deal, i am such a caffeine addict too (recovering tho, lol). after said incident in ER i decided to lay off the stimulants for awhile, and i was having bad withdrawals, like all itchy in my chest like i needed a cigarette or something (and i don't even smoke!!)
the best remedy i've found for it: apple cider vinegar. there's a thread about all the benefits of it, but seriously, it helps with my energy so much - i made a pot of coffee today and didn't even touch it because i just didn't want it or need it.
anyways good luck to you and i will try to stay strong too!

I really want to quit drinking and the social smoking the it incurs (I never smoke except when I drink). I did successfully transition from coffee to green tea, and I feel I'm sleeping a lot better at night.

I'm kind of jealous, I wish I could have soy milk. I guess some people have bad reactions to it, just like others are lactose intolerant. I love the taste, but it makes my stomach hurt and contributes to terrible mood swings.

After you give up junk food for a while, it really does taste bad. It is like you become more sensitive to the flavors and stuff tastes plastic-y or something. I don't know how else to explain it.

I still love hot dogs though. For as bad as hot dogs are, they still taste wonderful with ketchup and mustard.

You know, I have another vegetarian friend who caved over the same thing-- a fricken' barbecued hot dog.

I have to admit, I have a fondness for the veggie corn dogs.

I gave up alcohol, caffeine, refined sugar (except for the occasional treat) and junk food 6 years ago... You will be sooooo much happier in the long run if you stick with it. I love the fact that I never feel like shit because of what I'm putting in my body. Good luck to anyone that tries to do it!

You can also go get the b12 shots, they have these medi clinics over here, but it was $60 the first visit, then the shots were free, for a certain period of time.
