Default Has anyone sold mary kay, avon, shaklee ect?

I have been trying to come up with new ways to make money. I was conned into going to a MK meeting, but it actually didnt sound that bad if you can sell the stuff and get other people on your team.

It had me thinking, maybe could have every sc in the city networked with mary kay makeup, lol.

    Opinions, ideas?

the best way to sell makeup is not just to say, this is what i have, blah blah blah, it's $x.

the real way to sell makeup is to convince people they need it by showing them something they haven't seen before. you have to be prepared to do makeovers, show people neat makeup tricks, convince them that doing _________ will make them look younger, and ___ color will make their lips look fuller, and _________ color eyeshadow really makes their eyes pop.

it's a lot more work and demonstrations than you might realize. and strippers might feel like they have all the information they need already.

    sell sex toys instead.

This night is gonna end when we're damn well ready for it to be over, worked all week long, and now the music is playing on our time. hmm, you dont think sex toys are more of indulgences? makeup sells even in bad times.
    Its something to consider though.

i just think that if you're selling to your coworkers, sex toys are a far better bet. makeup sells during bad times because women want to look good so they can meet wealthy men to save them from all their problems, or so they can get promotions, or whatever. despite that they are still buying makeup, often times they switch to lower priced makeup. or, if they're a die-hard brand enthusiast, they may stick mostly with that brand or have a sales person they already really like. it's hard to break into if you don't already have makeup experience or a targeted sales audience that is guaranteed to be receptive (i.e. family, family friends etc)

I've done both avon and sex toys. It is a lot of work for very little $$. You put in a lot of hours just to get yourself in front of some customers, then there is no guarantee that they will even buy anything. It is easier to sell products that you have in stock, as both makeup and sex toys are not considered "returnable" per se, by most people.

If you don't have any stock, then you will make few sales. Most people want to buy right now, and waiting a week for delivery (or longer with some companies) means you'll get a lot of canceled orders. Usually the company won't accept returns on your cancellations, so you are stuck holding inventory. Sure, it is a tax write off, but stocking, sorting and itemizing inventory is just more hours in your life that are not earning you any income.

I'm not saying that these are bad careers, by any means. But you should be totally into selling whatever it is you choose to sell. If you are looking to make a quick buck, this is not the way to go. If you have another means of support for 2-5 years, you can definately make some good money down the road. Otherwise you need to look at those kinds of businesses as hobbies.

The other caveat is that if you have a huge group of friends that would make reliable customers, this could be just the business for you. I knew an elementary teacher that sold Mary Kay, and she did awesome with the other teachers and the moms from her classes. Just think, every fall she got 60 new potential customers amongst her kids!

Promote yourself and earn more money! This is a business that is owned by strippers for strippers. Let's make that money!

I won't touch Mary Kay stuff... it makes me break out.

My mother sold Shaklee for many years and even though she's not a rep anymore we still love the products and order them on a regular basis. Basic H has so many uses it's ridiculous! I grew up on their chocolate protein so I always keep a can of that in stock as well as many of the vitamins. We both mostly just order online though now.

If you travel or know a lot of people who do you might want to look into one of the travel agency things like what Britney Ireland is into since you can use it to write off traveling as a business expense while working clubs in other cities.

I also know another GREAT company that many of my friends do. I don't think anyone has marketed it dancers but it really would be PRIME for dancers. One of my friends is making $150K a year selling it and she barely works! She does have an assistant though who works 30/hrs a week and she's paying her $14/hr (about $22K per year) to basically do her work. So my friend is still keeping like $128K/year for MAYBE working 10 hours a week. If you want info on it PM me. Oh, and I should mention that it's residual income, so if you just stop working you would still earn off the work you've already done.
    Don't you ever sleep?
Not at night...that's when the stars have rather better things to do. They're coming out, shining, that sort of thing.
