    Default bruises...

Hey all! I'm new to the forums and new to dancing.

Just wondering if anyone has the same problem as I do and if there's anything to do about it. I bruise very easily. In fact, every bruise on my body I couldn't begin to tell you were I got it. It wasn't so concerning until I came home one night and my ole man thought someone was rough housing me. He understands my mystery of bruises so he wasn't upset when I told him that I have no idea how I got it. It almost looks like someone grabbed my arm really hard. There's three huge bruises on my inner arm. This is to add to the many other ones that I have on my legs. Is there anyway I can make them a little less noticable?

Arnica gel. Also might wanna try ruubbing a halved lemon directly on the bruise. This helps a lot with the discoloration. It will take time, but eventually, you will not bruise quite so easily from dancing. The skin toughens over time (that is, if these bruises have to do with pole dancing). Take care lady!

+1 on arnica gel- nothing works like it. They carry it at whole foods. You can also take it internally (pill form, not the gel) which I hear works just as well but haven't tried personally.

I bruise pretty easily myself and have good luck with a cream...don't remember the exact name, something like no more spider veins I think. The active ingredient in it is vitamin K, the box said it also worked on bruises. I'm not even sure if you can still get that exact product but you can get vitamin K ointments and possibly an oral supplement. Vitamin K helps strengthen the veins and to speed the decomposition of the blood which is what accounts for all those lovely bruise colours.
I think...Anyway however it works it does work so that's another thing you might try.

You're more than likely iron deficient. It's super common in women, especially if you have heavy periods, and your diet can affect it too.

I went through the same thing you did a few years ago when my body changed and my periods started to get heavier, and my cycles shorter. I started taking iron supplements and it helps SO much. I literally went from waking up with bruises that I had no idea how I got to being literally bruise-proof.

The creams and arnica stuff never worked for me. I think the problem need to be taken care of internally first. The creams may help but you need to take care of your low iron first, which I am almost %100 positive is your problem.

Bruising easily could be just an iron problem but it could also be a sign of something more serious. Please get checked by a Dr. It could be a clotting issues or even a vascular issue. And it may be something that puts you at risk for aneurisms. So please get checked.

On a lighter note; my knees tend to bruise quite a bit because of dancing on the hard floors. (Ours are grantite) so I started using airbrush leg cover. I use the Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs. It stays on well and doesn't rub off on my dresses, Since I don't tan the flaws can really show on my legs and this product helps a lot.

Dermablend is another good makeup for covering bruises and scars. The stuff is even good at covering tattoos. You do need to wait a few minutes to let it dry and set because it has a tendency to rub off. You can find it at most department stores.

I am definitely going to give this arnica gel thing a try though

I took arnica (it came in little tiny pills) for a few weeks before surgery (2 years ago, I think), based on the doctors suggestion, and have pretty much kept taking it ever since - I'm one of those fair skinned redheads who bruise if you look at them too hard, and it's definitely cut down on how black and blue I usually am...
