Default Anyone else addicted to soda?

"Hi, my name is McKenna and I have an addiction to soda..."

I wish I could find some kind of decent substitute, but I can't seem to break away from the soda. I drink it, like, ALL the time! Individual bottles of flavored water or fruit juice is too expensive, and I can't stand plain water. Sometimes I'll drink water and crystal-light, but I always seem to wind up reaching for the soda again soon . I don't mind the calories so much because my weight is low, but I hate that I'm drinking so many artificial sweeteners and preservatives etc.

    Any suggestions?

Yeah i was gonna suggest Crystal Light. It still gives you flavor so you dont have to drink just water. Other then that...hmmm, i am not sure. You could always like make lemonade. Water, sugar, & lemon juice. That way, its tangy & you dont have to do drink it all the time. I dont know there is some suggestions, but I am not sure what else.

I like making sweet iced tea and then mix it with fruit juice for extra flavor.

Have you tried Kombucha? It is naturally carbonated, full of flavor and good for you. It is high calorie, so you don't want to have too much, but it might be a good alternative to soda.

Have you tried making iced coffee drinks? You may be craving the caffeine in soda, too.

That might be correct. Because they do say that caffeine can get addicted. So maybe you do need something with caffeine in it, or take a pill with caffeine in it. Have you been getting headaches that is usually what happens when you either drink too much or stop drinking it. I believe it is when you drink too much. But I agree with paris, if you arent into taking pills, then a drink with caffeine in it might suit you well.

Nice Mountain Dew is good, but I dont think all the time. Thats got like a tons of calories, and if she drinks it all the time that might not be good. Plus theres studies on Mountain Dew where it wears away the enamel on your teeth.

^^I dont know any things about red bull though. Exactly it says that the acid or something in Mountain Dew causes the tooth enamel to slowly erode away. I dont think you can get it back either. So, its probably best not to drink it that many times a day. Only every once in a while if you really need it.

I'm surprised no one has suggested this--try sparkling water! It can be a bit more expensive...but buy a knock-off brand. I get crazy cravings for soda...but the natural carbonation in sparkling water totally kills the urge! I've heard that some people add fruit juices to sparkling water, but I've never tried that.

You might want to try to find this in cans, though, because the fizz leaves the bottles pretty quickly after they're opened...bleh. I've definitely seen it sold this way. The cans were blue... (not that that's helpful).

^That's really helpful. I used to be addicted to soda. I had to have a 20oz bottle of soda (any kind) a day. I think it's not always the caffeine, but the fizz. I started drinking seltzer instead and that really helped. Maybe it'll work for you.

I agree with Charlie...try a juice glass(about 4 oz.) with 1/2 real orange juice and 1/2 seltzer or club soda. You could try it with cranberry juice or whatever you prefer.
