    Default Texas College Students

How are you dealing with this crap? what really really bugs me is B. and E. maybe A but not really.

A.3-peat—The State of Texas will not fund a student who takes a class for the third time. This means that if a student signs up for a class for a third time, even if he/she dropped or failed it before, the State will not provide funding for that student and the student may be required to pay extra (possibly out-of-state tuition).

B.6 W’s—Beginning Fall 2007, students cannot drop more than 6 classes throughout their whole college career. Any drops after that will become F’s. This includes all the years in college and not W’s.

C.27 hour rule—The State of Texas only funds a maximum of 27 hours for developmental classes (for example, 3 English classes, 3 reading, and 3 math). If a student signs up for more, because he/she dropped or failed one or more, the student may be required to pay more money (such as out-of-state tuition).

D.80% attendance—Students are required to be in class at least 80% of the time to receive credit for the course (if they complete their course requirements). This means that if a student is absent more than 20% of the time (three weeks altogether—9 times for classes that meet three times a week, 6 times for classes that meet twice a week, and 3 times for classes that meet once a week), he/she should be dropped from the class. The student should also be dropped if he/she misses two weeks in a row. Although teachers often drop students when they exceed the number of absences, it is the responsibility of the student to either drop him/herself or to make sure that he/she has been dropped in order not to receive a failing grade. Students dropping after drop date (the Friday of the 12th week of the semester) will receive an F for the course.

E.Finishing on time—The State expects students to graduate on time (2 years for a 2-year degree, 4 years for a 4-year degree). Students who take longer to finish may be required to pay out-of-state tuition.

Bit like work really - meet sensible performance targets or place your employment in jeopardy.

I think E is kinda out there, but the rest seems ok, and shouldn't be hard to follow.

I guess what bothers me is that I pay cash for school and I know it's my fault but I didn't know about rule b. and now I have to drop two classes and I already dropped 3! and I'm barely going to have 60 hours in school. I hate that I can't be a dedicated full-time student. I actually work full-time and now with this I'm gonna have to take school REALLY slow and I'm 26 maybe if I was younger I wouldn't feel as bad to slow down the school process.
