    Default more stripper tax questions

i did a couple of preliminary searches and didn't come up with my answers, so forgive me if this has already been asked and answered and i didn't find it.

    1. if my dad claims me as a dependent, can i still file taxes? i made right around or under 6k.

    2. if i am allowed to file taxes, will i receive a return or any of the stimulus money for reporting under 6k? for reference, i didn't even think to save any receipts until this new year started, so i have nothing to write off for last year.

    3. if the above two answers are yes, what is the most economical way for me to file both state and federal taxes? is it online through a free website? is it by going to an h&r block or jackson hewitt type place?

    please help! and thank you.

    1. Yes, you do still need to file. There is a question on the tax form that asks if someone else is claiming you as a dependent that you mark.

    2. You will probably get something from the new stimulus. I think the payments are for all taxpayers making under $250K. Don't quote me on that, the money may go to your dad instead.

Can you guess at what you have spent on business expenses? For instance, you know that house fee is $50 flat per shift and you worked 10 shifts a month? You may also look at your bank statements for charges made for stripper related items like makeup and clothing. With a $6K total income, you may be able to show a slight loss w/o signaling and audit. Most businesses lose money in their first year or two in business. The IRS will give you three years to file a loss, but if you can't turn a profit by the 4th year your business is re-classified as a hobby and no longer tax deductible.

    3. You should try using a free filing software first just to see how comfortable you are with forms and program. If after trying out the software and finding yourself nervous and confused, definately seek professional help. H&R Block is fine, just don't agree to a "refund anticipation loan" type of service. They are basically charging you a big fee so that you don't have to wait 2 weeks for your refund from the IRS. It may be a substantial refund (like more than $1000) and the service takes like 10% to issue a check right away. If you can wait a couple of weeks, you will get to keep your $100.

You also get to write off any tax prep fees on your income tax return as a business expense.

Promote yourself and earn more money! This is a business that is owned by strippers for strippers. Let's make that money!

my club doesn't have flat house fees, they come out of lapdances, so unless i knew exactly how many lapdances i did last year (or approximately) i can't write that off. and i have no idea how to guess at that.

could i write off dj tip outs?

and i don't presently have a bank account or card, and haven't for about six months, so that's out too.

    thanks for the info!
