Default Going from red to blonde....at home :-O

    Hey ladies!

So my hair is a copper/natural red and I want it to be this color:

I don't have a hair appt until March 27, so I want to take the first step in lightening it before I go to a professional and have her make it fab. I know it probably sounds like a bad idea to most of you, and I should let a professional just do the whole thing from start to finish, but she won't have enough time that day and I am leaving for Tokyo April 2! I want to have it done before then.

Plus, I have lightened my hair at home from black to blonde a few times without anything horrible happening. I usually go to Sally's and get Level 40 bleach, do that all over and use foils. Then I put a box color ash blonde all over to tone down the yellow/brassiness and make it a soft natural blonde.

I was wondering if any of you have done from red to blonde, what exactly did you do? What products did you use to get rid of the orange tones? I am basically going from a very warm tone to a cool tone, which could be tricky. Any tips on toning?

    Thanks!

I know this totally contradicts what I said in my post but DON'T DYE YOUR HAIR BLONDE! You look like hot shit with red hair, seriously.

Natural red? You'll look pretty either way... but my god, I would kill to be a natural redhead. So, so, sexy and unique.

I know, every so often I get the itch to go blonde....and I'm about to move to Tokyo where I hear they LOVE blondes (much more so than redheads) and it might help me a lot to be blonde if I am getting into the acting scene over there...so I've been seriously considering it.

Honestly, I'd consider a wig. I'm naturally red, and I've tried to go blonde a few times (both professionally, and on my own) and it's NEVER ended well. Red is REALLY stubborn, and not likely to lighten really well, and I've always ended up with SO much damage from trying that I've had to cut my hair short just to make it tolerable.

I'm also not convinced that a cool ashy blonde on a natural redhead would look good - there's that whole hair/skin/eye colour compatability thing to think about...
