    Default Work hours!?

    Hey everybody!

So a friend and I went into a club that was hiring and put in an application. It's a small club that seems some what desperate for girls. A friend and I just planned on working there to gain some experience and move on. Well we met with the Daytime bartender/manager/dancer..(i will not mention her name) well when we got there the door guy told her that we are applying and we have our licenses. She just looked at us with a really annoyed and stressed out face. There were like 10 girls in the club and 2 guys..it was also a monday.

Anyway we were hired without an audition, but she asked if we could work day shift and that it is from 3pm to 12midnight! That's a long time! They seem like they need girls bad.. I don't even think they have a DJ. The girls were taking turns playing the music. I already have a full time day job and school...9 hours a shift seems long! Do you think they would be flexible in that? The manager/dancer...didn't seem the friendliest at the time!

    Sorry for rambling! Thanks!

Well, I don't know if they would be flexible or not--it would be best to explain your situation and ask them if they can work with it.

9 hours is on the long side. I work at a club that requires 8 hour shifts, though, so it isn't unheard of.

I'd be more concerned about whether this is a good club to work at. 10 girls and 2 guys doesn't sound promising. Try scoping it out at other times and days. Maybe it is busier. But you want to make sure that this is a place you'll be able to make money. I'd also be worried because they are desperate for girls. In my experience, clubs that are desperate are desperate because all the strippers are avoiding it for a reason! Why not gain experience at a busier club?

I know! That's what I was thinking too! Maybe it isn't such a great place because they need dancers, bartenders, a dj, servers...they have been needing them for awhile too! yeah it's one of those clubs in a bad neighborhood. Last time we were there the dancers told us it was a good place to get some experience and move on. The atmosphere definitely wasn't friendly this time around.

9 hrs is a little long... 3 pm to midnight is pretty much my whole day because I wake up around 1pm... I wouldn't be able to do it.lol
If the club doesnt look like it has any money, then try to find another.. dont waste your time just because you have never danced before. My first club was cheetah, which is a fairly big club around here and it wasn't bad at all... so I say find a club that looks busy and audition there.

3 to midnight is a very odd "day shift". Usually clubs have a more normal 11-6, 6-2 breakdown between day and night shifts....it sounds kind of weird and sketchy that they would call a shift that ends at midnight "day shift"

Thanks ladies for your input. I was thinking the same thing too!! I know that other clubs usually have the girls work between 5-7 hour shifts, but 9 hours..! That's way too long I think! I don't think I could do it because I work full time and have school! I'll check my other options!
