Dizzy i auditioned over a week ago and haven't been called...

i had my first audition at a club over a week ago, and it seemed to go
really well, but they haven't called me. the manager said he needed to
work on the schedule for the next week and would call me with it, but hasn't.
i called a few days ago and left a message saying i was still available and
excited about working there. my friend came with me to the audition and
said i did even better than the girls who worked there, who were all very nice to me and said they thought i would get hired. i'm good looking enough. a customer even came up and tipped me, didn't know i was auditioning. the club had an ad saying they were hiring dancers immediately. so i'm confused!
should i call the club again, or go back down there, or just wait?
should i just give up? there aren't too many nice clubs around here, and
i really want to give it my best shot, but i don't want to annoy them by
calling them too much! any suggestions are very much appreciated!!!

It sounds to me like they are trying to "let you down gently." Generally, at the clubs I've worked at, they hire on the spot and you fill out paperwork then and there.

When the manager said the stuff about "working on the schedule," did he tell you that you had been hired?

Though it sounds to me like he's brushing you off, give him the benefit of the doubt, and go in person to see what's up. Or call until you reach somebody. Strip clubs are bad about returning messages. Just don't hassle them so much that you make a nuisance of yourself.

    good luck!!!

I agree that generally managers hire on the spot. However, I would not be leaving phone messages. You can imagine how many girls probably audition and the manager isn't going to be taking a chance of telling someone they are hired and possibly mixing them up with someone he/she didn't mean to hire. If you want to follow up your best option is to call and find out when that manager is working again, and then stop into the club in person to follow up. Be pre-warned though that if they were "brushing you off gently", they may not be so gentle in person.

thanks for all your input! do you think it would be okay to ask for another chance to audition? i thought about it and realized maybe i was a little too racy for this club at my audition. i had been thinking all the girls were pretty un-sexy dancers, but maybe that is what they want. so if i go back in there and do it the way i saw the other girls do it, maybe it would work out. do they ever give second auditions? or is that just pushing it? i looked as good or better than most of the girls, i had the moves and was sexy (according to my good friends who would not lie), and everyone there was really nice and said they thought i would get hired and hoped that i did. it felt like i would get the job. i don't think i am being crazy! so, going down there, asking for the second audition? bad idea, good idea, worth a try since i have nothing to lose? thank you!!!!!!!!!!!

why dont you try another club instead of going back there again? your wasting time waiting while you could be making money somewhere else!!

    I see girls re-audition all the time. I don't think that's a big deal.

If you like the club that much ask to re-audition. I re-audition all the time for work rather than flat out ask what the problem is, why haven't the called, etc. It's a nicer way to get more information.

If you ask to reaudition you can ask them what they are looking for and get some more specifics.

Avoid saying things like "what did I do wrong last time?" or anything that can be negative towards you.

I auditioned someplace last year, didn't hear back so called and rescheduled a second audition - we talked about the project further (I never mentioned the previous audition at all.) Come to find out I was already in and they just hadn't gotten around to calling everyone yet. But it gave me face time with the boss and showed my willingness to work.

Plus the entertainment industry is fickle and forgetful - if you really want to do something at a specific place you have get out there and go for it.

BTW - This is non club related work but I figure the same advice applies.
