    Default Cheap Vs Expensive

I have been trying to budget and cut back my spending and i have switched to cheaper brands of moisturiser, shampoo, body lotion etc, and my question is what is the difference between an expensive and a cheaper product. I know that the 'name' brands charge extra for their name but the stores own label brands can vary greatly in price. Do you think that the cheaper brands contain lesser quality ingredients?

It all depends. With some things, there really is no difference and they are basically the same, but that's not the truth for all products. Any specific products that you want to know about?

In the past I have always found boots own products are pretty good. But nowadays I have certain products I love so much I just stick with that one brand I only have like boots facewipes so the other stuff could have changed but still boots is quite good

Some of the store brands are crap, but I've found that Aussie moisturizer is the best ever. Almost all expensive facewash from sephora reaks havoc on my skin. Clean and Clear Sensitive works wonders for me, so I really don't think that the brand matters. Mascara is almost always the same whether cheap or expensive and same with lipgloss. I would splurge on eyeshadow and brushes and maybe eyeliner and the rest can be from the drugstore. I also hear that you should definetly splurge on foundation and moisturizer because those things don't get washed away like facewash or toner, but I don't use them. Escpecielly if its for work, it'll run out way to fast to be worth it.

I've read that the high-end makeup isn't really very different from the drugstore kind, but with facial and skin products, you really are paying for what you get.

As far as make-up and hair products go, I think the more expensive stuff seems to be a huuuge difference in quality. I only like using the high end.

    I use
walgreen's or family dollar brand acne wash- same ingredients as neutrogena,
    cheap hair gel
drugstore brand hand and body lotions
    drugstore foundation/pressed powder
    lipgloss/mascara/eyeliner/nail polish
    drugstore brand shaving creme

Things I go name brand for are
    moisterizers/sunscreen (because Im acne prone)
    shapoo/condish/dep treatments
I would buy higher end eye shadow too because drugstore brands dont have good color payoff ( except for NYX)

I've tried to use cheaper versions of what I like, but I end up seeing a difference. One thing I have found is from Sephora, called Shadow Insurance (a primer for the eyelid). With this, most shadows and liners will stay-put, no matter what price. Still, I'd rather invest in a few quality products that can be relied upon, rather than a ton of cheapies. For me, I'm just keeping to what I use, and since not dancing during the economic downturn, not using as much product.
