After a never ending battle with weight loss and cellulite on my thighs and butt, I finally decided to try a non invasive surgical procedure. A friend of mine who works for a nationally popular plastic surgeon, Dr. Bill Johnson, got me into a clinical study testing the effectiveness of Thermage for treating cellulite. I already work out five days a week, and took Tonalin for about 2 1/2 months with little change. I noticed a very slight difference in my skin tone on my body from the Tonalin, but it made my face GREASY! The esthetician that does my bi weekly chemical peels suggested that I cease taking it for now. By the way, I get my first Jessner peel next week, Im excited!
Anyways....
Today I had Thermage Cool Tip and Deep Contour treatments to the entire back of my thighs, starting at the back of my knees up the the fold of my butt. They told me I have Phase II cellulite, so I was a good candidate for this procedure, versus the women who have it extremely bad. This procedure is only done one time, with the full results shown after six months. The entire treatment took four hours, and the retail price is approximately $7,000. Thermage promises to rid one's body of cellulite for five years or more in just one treatment.
First of all, this hurts BAD!!!!The doctor had me take two valium and two vicodin before we began, and then half way through, a morphine injection and "lollipop" pain killer (fentanyl) which is commonly used for cancer patients. So, yeah, even after all that it HURT!!!! Almost to the point of tears. This feels like a hot curling iron pulsing a few seconds at a time on small sections of my thighs. They even gave me a stress ball to squeeze during the procedure. It is supposed to heat up the dermis and force the body to rebuild collagen tissues, thus eliminating cellulite.
I left the office in no pain whatsoever, it only hurt while the Doc was doing it, so that is a major plus. My skin definitely feels much less lumpy on my thighs, but I won't see a dramatic result until a few weeks out. I did see a result when I left, so I think I am going to be very pleased with this treatment. This is something to do if you want to go one step further than endermologie. I will give an update on my results and post some before after pictures for those of you interested in Thermage in a few days...
