Can anyone recommend a good accountant who will either work with me even though I'm not in their area OR is located near Fresno, California?
This is my first year filing taxes and I want to get into the habit of doing it correctly.
Thanks ladies!![]()

Accountants specialize in industry sectors. Although I have no name recommendations, I can suggest some ways that you can narrow your search.
1. find someone who is accustomed to working with entertainers of all kinds (bands, comedians, public speakers etc.). They will be familiar with the business needs of individual entertainers and won't balk at the idea of writing off high heel shoes and tanning.
2. Call large accounting firms and explain that you are a tiny business and need to know if they take small clients. Most do. They will assign you a hungry accountant who likely has worked with other dancers.
3. Ask your club management who they use. You don't want to use the same accountant, but you may be able to get a recommendation from your club's accountant. (That's how I found my first accountant).
Promote yourself and earn more money! This is a business that is owned by strippers for strippers. Let's make that money!
Thanks, Paris! I'll try the first two suggestions. I can't do #3 because I work private parties and I would venture to say NONE of the girls there pay their taxes or report their income so they're pretty clueless.

DEFINITELY get an accountant. Make sure she/he is a CPA and NOT just a "Tax Preparer". Ask around discreetly and then ASK about their experience working with entertainers and escorts. That's right. ESCORTS. The SMART ones pay their taxes and all sorts of things are deductible.
I PM'd you with some other info.
