    Default TCA and glycolic peels

The "aging skin" thread convinced me to try DIY chemical peels. I know I need to start with a round of the TCA peels before doing glycolic, and work up from a mild concentration...but aside from that, I'm clueless.

I was looking around online for info and found 45629346532 sites that sell TCA peels. Can anyone recommend some good quality/effective ones? Those of you who do the peels yourself, what do you use (and where do you get it)?

Also, how are acid peels supposed to deal with wrinkles around the eye? Can you actually safely put this stuff around the eye area? Around-the-eye wrinkles is my second-biggest problem (freckling/hyperpigmentation is the worst offender!)

I was inspired too and just bought my first one and did it yesterday! I've been getting lactic peels (best for dry skin) from an esthetician and after reading aviendha's and circe221?? posts I realized I could save a boatload of money and DIY. Hopefully they will chime in in here since I am still a newbie at this.

The two websites they recommended were - Platinum Skin Care & Makeupartistschoice.com. I went with Makeupartists because they had a smaller qty bottle (1oz will give me 22 peels) and I figured I'd start off with a small dosage and work my way up to bigger %'s (Platinum Skin Care has slightly lower phs which make for a stronger peel so I may switch over once I want to buy 2oz of product which will almost last me a year if I do them weekly). I'm doing 40% lactic. And I decided to do my arms and it helped evened out my skin tone and fade the freckles (so maybe I should have bought the 2 oz!)

But I think you have it backwards. AHA's are the lowest followed by BHAs and then I believe TCAs are next so I definitely wouldn't start with the TCA. Both aviendha and circe said they started off with glycolic and worked their way up to a TCA.

Here is a demo of applying a peel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGgLL...eature=related

I apply the peel with a fan brush. It's what my esthetician used. I got it from Joann's fabrics for like $6 (couldn't find one at target) and saved myself some $$$ since I could only find a brush from smashbox for $22. It looks like this http://z.about.com/d/painting/1/0/9/d/1/Brush-Fan.jpg

I don't have any advice for the eye area. I don't come close to that area.

    And definitely apply SUNSCREEN religiously

You can use an 8% TCA on the lower eyelid, but nothing stronger, and NOTHING on the upper eyelid. You should also not come within 1/2 inch of the eye, for obvious reasons.

I use a Q-tip to apply my peels (as per the MUAC instructions) and that works fine. I've even used my hands when the peel solution was thicker (more gelatinous than watery, obviously it doesn't work very well with watery peels). Whichever works best for you in terms of providing even coverage!
