    Default bartending/waitressing in SF clubs?

Sorry to start yet another SF thread, but I didn't want to threadjack since this doesn't really have anything to do with dancing...

I'm thinking about taking a break from dancing, and bartending or cocktailing instead. I've done both for 2 years, so I've got experience.

Those of you working in any of the main topless clubs in SF...is your club hiring bar staff? How hard is it to get in as a bartender or waitress on night shifts? About how much does bar staff make?

And...if I ever wanted to go back to dancing, would mgmt let me switch? (That won't be happening anytime soon! I want/need at least a year off from dancing. But eventually...maybe.)

As far as 'qualified', I've got two years' experience...but, it has been two years since I stopped doing that and switched to dancing. How much experience do they want you to have? I'm not set on bartending either...I'd be ok just waitressing if the $$ is equal.

I'm still on the fence about whether to try and get in as a waitress/bartender or whether I should just keep dancing...but if I do apply for a bar position, I'd be happy to put you down as my referral so you can possibly get $200. (If you're okay with PM'ing me your name...if not, that's totally understandable. )

Also...if I did one day decide that I wanted to start dancing again, would they let me switch?

You said you've done both, which job pays more money? It might be the obvious but people who worked as a waitress/bartender said they make just as much.

Bartenders usually make more money, because they get tips from the customers directly and tip-outs from the waitresses, as well as their hourly wage. That's not based on Gold Club, just bars and restaurants in general. I've worked as both a waitress and bartender, too.

Huh. I wonder if they'll still be hiring for staff in 6 months or so.

Deja Vu clubs usually let you switch, just not in the same pay period. I know someone who got screwed out of 2 weeks worth of pay because she danced for one night at the end of the period. But most would welcome the switch, just because they're more excited to have an independent contractor than an employee.....
