Dizzy Does anyone ever feel like running away?

So i woke up today and made a decision. I'm going to pack up all of my crap and run away lol! Does anyone ever feel like this? I'm venturing off to the states in may, was only supposed to stay for 6 weeks at the most but now i've decided to stay for 3 months. I have a boyfriend and feel abit selfish packing up and leaving for a couple of months. This is how my last relationship ended! But i can't take him with me because i'm gonna be dancing and i want to make the most out of it. I can't dance forever and i don't know when i'll get to go to America again! I'm abit confused any advice would be appreciated. Sorry if this sounds like a load of shit ha ha!

I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

NOTE: anything I post here, outside of a direct quote, is my opinion only, which I am entitled to. Take it for what you estimate it is worth.

Yep, all the time! I have been restraining my urge to "run away" pretty well as I've gotten older. Besides, I can't take my pets with me when I run away, so I always end up coming back pretty quickly.

Haha I think about running several times a day. Aw but I have a lil person. Damn sure can't leave her! Just can't figure out if I take her will she grow up and thank me for an adventurous life growing up or will she be posting on a forum board 1 day about how much I screwed her up?

I am running away. I bought my ticket for Australia last week and I leave in less than two days. I got the work visa for a year.
I only "plan" on being gone 2 months. I own a house, but I have a very responsible grad student renting a room.
I have a new boyfriend who is about the sweetest guy ever. I'm sure by the time I get back he will have moving on or run away too.

I'm so jealous of these travel endeavors. I travel a lot , but can't seem to get enough, so PLEASE post details about your trips! I've always dreamed of doing a month or two long trip ....or longer.... but can not seem to get the balls up to do it. I want to live as an expat too ( 6 months or so). I better do this stuff soon if I really want to. I'm getting old.

I've done it a few times. I am constantly on the search for The Next Big Thing. Now school has got me landlocked and its driving me nuts.

I have the serious travel bug.

^ That's how I am! It drives my bf a little nuts that I'm always "scheming" , but it's the searching, the learning , and the newness that makes me happy.

^^my boyfriend too! He thinks I'm spoiled but I just think I have an appetite for travel! I think school though and the commitment of that and the real world are making me want to travel more. It's like I want stability but as I'm inching closer I long more and more for flexibility and freedom....ah so is life to never be satisfied.

I used to get this way a lot when I was younger and I really thought I'd grown out of it until recently. I've felt this very strongly lately and I don't know what to do about it honestly. I'm fighting it at the moment, but I don't know how long that will last...

I always want to run away! I hate being tied down to absolutely anyone or anything, so making serious commitments (like college) is extremely hard on me. I love biology, though- it helps to like what you're learning to stay in school long enough to get the degree. The school I'm transferring to offers several research programs with different schools and places as well as a decent study abroad program. I'm hoping that all of this will help me not hate being tied to one place so much, since technically I'm able to go other places and still get the credits I need. I guess we'll see!

Dayna- where are you planning on going in the US?

Not sure if you had already sorted out all the legalities of being a foreign worker, but if not this recent post by Melonie may be of interest....

Quote Originally Posted by Melonie View Post
Actually, any US tax issues are subordinate to the issue of obtaining legal working status in the US. Since the passage of the Patriot Act several years ago, ALL US 'employers' are required to ascertain that newly hired 'workers' are eligible. In the case of a non-US citizen, this either means being granted a 'green card' i.e. permanent legal resident status, or being granted a specific 'work permit'.

Since there is no shortage of available US dancers, obtaining a specific 'work permit' basically requires that A. you are a feature dancer, B. your agent advance books a tour of specific US clubs on specific dates, and C. the dates of your arriving and DEPARTING flights are cast in stone.

The 'work permit' is pretty important these days. For example, I know of a dancer who worked for a major chain club in London, and who wanted to work in US clubs which were members of the same chain. In fact, she had worked out all of the details in advance with US chain club managers ... in other words she had proof that she would be able to work when she arrived. The US State Dep't shot down a work visa since she wasn't a feature dancer, thus the US chain clubs were not able to allow her to dance.

Undoubtedly there will be a lot of 'non-corporate' US clubs who would be willing to hire a hot new dancer despite her lack of a work permit. However, in truth these sort of clubs tend to show the same disregard for other US laws ( like prostitution, drugs etc.) that they do for the US work permit law. Obviously, a UK dancer who is not comfortable with HIGH levels of physical contact is likely to have a hard time earning money in such clubs.

Also, if a dancer were to be 'busted' working at a US club without a work permit, odds are that a quick deportation would follow. Such a deportation would get the dancer 'blackballed' from re-entering the US in the future. Also, it's a distinct possibility that some bogus criminal charges could be levelled i.e. a prostitution / lewd conduct charge, which would allow local governments to lay their hands on most of the money the 'illegal' dancer had earned (via fines and court fees) before escorting her to the airport !

I would also throw out the fact that, while America doesn't have any special arrangements with the UK in regard to work programs, Canada does ... as part of the Commonwealth which also includes Australia, New Zealand etc. Thus a UK citizen does NOT face the same work permit issues in regard to Canadian clubs as she would with American clubs.

Based on the last paragraph, as a citizen of New Zealand you might have an easier time in your travels to Canada. (HockeyBobby will be happy to hear this. Heh.)

    Best of luck!
