Default The Body Shop in San Diego?

I danced for a couple months at the end of last year, but was not working IN the city of San Diego so I didn't need an SD license. Well I decided that was too far from my house so I quit, but now I'm desperate for money again and I was thinking about going to The Body Shop.

I've heard you don't need an SD license... is that true? And what is the club like? It has somewhat of a sketchy reputation, but so did the last club I worked in and it wasn't the least bit sketch. And is their pole(s) stationary or rotating? I'm a little wary of stationary poles since I learned on a rotating.

Please offer any information or advice you can. Thanks girls!! <333

    ^^

I was looking into this place, too. I'm trying to avoid licensing in SD, myself but I still haven't been to this place. I haven't heard the best reviews of it, honestly. Sorry, that doesn't really help.

So I went in there yesterday to talk to the manager and it IS true that you don't need a license. Weird... I didn't ask why, but I'm curious. It's kinda small in there, but pretty decent looking and clean. The girls were all pretty and the stage is huge! I think I'm gonna go in and audition. Come work with me, vivianbear!

I'm really curious why you don't need a license also. Weird. Let us know how it goes!

I think I read that its one of the oldest clubs in the county. It has a grandfather clause that makes it exempt from that requirement. Don't quote me on that, though.

One of my buddies works here. Unfortunately, this club and Les Girls next door have a long standing reputation as being whorehouses. Pretty much everyone acknowledges that the reason why the clubs are still open is to keep the hookers off the street. Work there a few days, get the money together for your licence, and get out; that's the best advice i can give ya.

To get a licence, you first have to go downtown to the cop shop off broadway... Pick up the paperwork packet; that has all the info in it. Then you need to go get fingerprinting done, get a business licence, and once you have both of those then you can head back to police hq for the actual dance card. you can't audition without a dance card.

is it easy to get a job at the body shop?
i'm thinking of auditioning, but only to gather the money for a license, and some rent money and then leave.

So I ended up not even going to my audition because I just wasn't feeling it. I got too many people asking me 'Do you reeeally want to work there!?' so I figured I probably wouldn't fit in. And seeing as I'm not the extras type of dancer, I doubt I would make much money.

I don't know how easy it is to get hired there, but when I went in to talk to the manager about auditioning, she told me I came in at a good time because she had one spot open for a day shift girl. Try it out there, there's no harm in asking. The manager I talked to, Barbara, was really nice.

A friend of mine worked there briefly a year ago. She did not need a licence. She did not speak highly of the club and basically told me that there was alot of touching going on that she did not allow and did not make any money. I do not know if the touching part is true but I do know she is not really much of a hustler but is reasonably attractive.

San Dieog licensing sucks. If you're trying to avoid it, go outside of San Diego county, and up north to Oceanside. Lots of military guys up there, but way stricter rules on what you have to wear and what you can do. Basically, you have to wear three pairs of panties--one thong, one regular, and one boyshort, AND you have to wear these flesh colored tights OVER your legs, because I guess exposing bare legs is just too much, lol. They also tend to like more alternative looking girls up there, and there isn't as much money as down in San Diego proper.

From my experiences in San Diego, it's better just to suck it up and get a permit. It BLOWS having to get all the information together for it--first, you have to go to the Police station downtown off of 13th and E (I think, maybe this address wrong) and get this huge pile of paperwork. You then fill it out, and after that you have to go to the business license office (also downtown) and apply for a business permit ($25). After that, you have to get fingerprinted in some school parking lot near South Park and that costs $75. Then you take all that back to the police station, pay them $200 bucks (background check fees, license fees, picture fees), they take your picture, then give you a temporary card to audition and work with. They send the real card (IF they decide to give it to you--if you have a criminal background they CAN decline you) in a month. You MUST have this card on you at all times to dance with, and same with the temporary permit. It's like a scavenger's hunt just to get all the shit together!

But after you get the permit, there are better places to work. Not a TON better, but better. I liked Pure Platinum Harborside the best myself. Even though I didn't make TONS, it seemed to have the most money in town and since it's by the airport, you get a lot of one time, out of state business men that have nothing better to do with themselves. It's also by the convention center, so you get a lot of convention runoff too. They have HOT girls there though, and ones of all different shapes and colors and sizes, with upwards of 50 on rotation on busy nights. It's easy to get overwhelmed there and lost in it all. But they don't have a schedule OR shifts--you can come in whenever you want and as long as you work for at least five hours, you can leave whenever you want too. I reccommend coming in around five and leaving at 11. Seemed to be the best shift for me, since I HATED working with so many girls!
