    Question Any audition tips???

I am still preparing myself mentally and physically for an audition. There is a particular club I want to work in- and no other. What are some first audition advice? What do I do and not do?? I'm nervous- but I really wanna do it!! Also, anybody from the Charlotte area?

I'm from the Chicago area, but here's some advice I often give to new dancers in person.

    1) Don't take it personally. So what if a guy doesn't like you? Doesn't mean it's you. Maybe the guy likes a certain type, or maybe the guy was being nasty. Some guys like to be jerks to those auditioning. I once saw a guy at an audition throw peanuts at a girl and call her fatty. There'll be a lot of these guys at the clubs, but also many nice men as well.

    2) Rejection from clubs is common. I've been rejected from clubs I applied at. Almost every dancer I know has. I've known one dancer who got rejected from one club four times before she was hired (personally I'd never audition 4 times).

    3) Let yourself get lost in the music. Dance like you are alone, or you are with your lover.

    4) Make sure you have everything you need to audition. You'd be surprised how many dancers couldn't audition because they didn't have music, outfits or even their id.

Those come to mind, but I'm sure others have other advice. Just have fun and don't worry about how well you do.

    - Be confident and enthusiastic. Some girls get on stage and you can tell they don't want to be their or they are bored, tired, etc. Always keeps a smile on your face and make eye contact with your audience

    - make sure you have already broke in your stripper shoes before the audition...somehow, being on stage makes 6 inch heels even more difficult to walk in

-practice at home to 2-3 songs you really like and that are club appropriate (upbeat, fast, dancey music). Practice moving around and taking your clothes off. Bring those 3 songs with you on a CD. Having already rehearsed your audition set makes it that much more easier

Go check out the club first. Note the type of outfits the girls are wearing and how they move as well as the music played. Take some money in a tip a few dancers to talk to them. Ask which manager is the best, what shifts are busy etc. Then tell the manager you are thinking about auditioning and ask to see the dressing room - make sure it's clean and if you will have a locker or need a lock for your bag.

Then call the club and find out about the audition days and times, as well as what you will need. After that practice lots, including in front of friends if possible.
