Before I started working I thought it was just easy $ but its not at all. There's an art to convincing customers to buy you drinks and dances, an art to dancing on stage and making money... you have to have a technique and and develop a style, be confident and intelligent enough that guys will want to keep coming back and not just buy one dance. it's not about being a whore or being slutty its about being a really good businesswoman

If you can get a guy to drop $400 for twenty minutes of your time and a few dances, that's a skill. strippers have to earn their money they dont get whatever an hour just for showing up... tyra can suck it.
i totally agree. stripping is definitely WORK, and you can make a lot of money but you definitely earn it. being attractive is part of it, but you also have to be socially adept enough to not only engage the customers in conversation but to always be closing the deal. it's a sales job, and it takes skill.

like you guys have said, tyra - all models, especially vs/sports illustrated/etc models - are selling their bodies just like strippers. hell, i got hired as a waitress because i met a restaurant manager who liked how i look, and when i showed up for my first day in a nice black dress, he told me to wear something "sexier" the next time. if you're a woman, there are a lot of jobs in which you're selling your body. maybe it's subtle, and maybe it's not. what makes stripping different from other jobs is you're not tiptoeing around it.

last thing: i'm on an upcoming episode of the tyra show (that has to do with different sexual fetishes/practices), and the experience of filming it was that she's extremely narrow-minded and judgmental of anyone who's sex-positive. i know it has a lot to do with the image she's trying to maintain, but i feel a little sorry for her because she gives the impression of being a pretty repressed person.

I get your point but its not just tyra's opinion.. she goes out of her way to edit her show/interviews to try and make her opinion a fact. Like when that porn star went on her show she had to wear clothes the show gave her that made her look younger and she said she loves her job but the show was edited to make it look like she was a victim. Its just ridiculous.

Good point. She has to keep up the image and since she does a lot of work with young girls, I still think she could handle it a little better.

    UPDATE:

Positive Tyra message-- Talking about stripper poles and women taking classes and getting poles in their houses.
She said it's HYPOCRITICAL to judge the strippers when your taking the classes and using the pole dancing..
    Kudos!

    No kudos.
Shes a hypocrit for calling other people hypocrits lol.
Because she in general is the biggest hypocrit and half the things she says contradict other things she has said.

I have an issue with everyone Trya interviews. She makes everyone sound like a they should be pitied. If she's not talking about fashion, clothes, hair, modeling or telling people to kiss her fat ass, she shouldn't be talking!

Don't forget Dr Drew spewing non-facts about anal sex.

Tyra is a wannabe Oprah, but lacks the brain and class that Oprah has. She just cuts clips to portray her opinion. She's a dumbass that will lose fame when her body withers. Tyra needs to take a lesson from the smart dancers and get an education, we know what's up.

Everything Tyra does screams "RATINGS!!!" to me. In ANTM she's never around for her models until something has happened, then she's all "Aw look how I am here for them when they need me! Aren't I sweet and caring!" The crap listed in this thread is the reason Janice left the show, she even has a small interview about it, about how Tyra edits out anything that doesn't match her point of view or the direction she wants her show to go.

I used to hate Janice but at least she doesn't tiptoe around the fact that she's selling her body and that she enhances her body in order to do it.

Tyra banks just seems so asexual IMO and she probably hates anything that has to do with sex.

I find her show boring as hell.

The show starts with her appearing in the audience yelling and plain old being loud about some shit that isn't even funny or ammusing.

The show caters to a bunch of mindless, oppinionless 18-34 year olds who agree with everything they are told. Just watching the show makes me feel like an idiot.

Imo, she should've never done the show. She ruined her career.

I didn't know much about her before the show, except that she was an attractive supermodel. Now she just seems classless and ignorant.

But then again, so many come across that way in the entertainment industry.....

I was a fan of hers BEFORE I saw the Tyra show. I loved her in Americas next top Model but the Tyra show ruined her for me. Here are some tidbits that came from her mouth about herself that will give you a glimpse of who she is:

*Shes from LA, left when she was 18?

*She was always made fun of in school because she was a skin and bones black chick which is the equivalent of being a heavy set white chick lol.

*Ever since she left LA her life has been about being a supermodel

This woman basically only has a high school education and the only thing she specializes in is the modeling/high fashion thing. Thats her life expierience. She seems like the LAST person a TV network would pick for a talk show, I mean what does this women know about anything?

How can Americans (no matter how dumb or smart they are) relate to her?

The most infuriating example was when she went "undercover" at a NYC topless bar. When it was time to go on stage, she totally chickened out and said she couldn't do it. Bullshit coming from a lingerie model. The only difference is that there would be no paycheck for tens of thousands of dollars when she was done. It was the lamest "expose" attempt.
