    Default Eyelash Extensions?

Has anyone had eyelash extensions done? I've got questions.

1.) Can you swim with them?

2.) Are any brands better than others?

    3.) What's the average cost?

4.) How long do they normally last?

5.) Does it look weird when one falls out? Can you just replace it or do you have to go in?

Do you want longer eyelashes, or more plentiful eyelashes?

I'd suggest looking into a product like Latisse (which contains bimatoprost) or Lilash (which doesn't). Both cost about $100 for a tube that lasts several months, and Latisse will both lengthen lashes and increase the number of lashes on the lash line, while Lilash just lengthens. But you can get significant increases in length, it's seriously amazing. My lashes nearly doubled in length on the old-formula Jan Marini Age Intervention Eyelash, which contained bimatoprost (it has since been reformulated without that ingredient). I used Lilash most recently and that worked nearly as well.

Anyway, it's not an instant solution like extensions are, but it's much cheaper and more reliable than extensions because they are your own natural lashes. You just use the product once a day until you get the length you desire, then go with every other day to maintain.

I don't reccomend eyelash extensions at all! They look really great at first but only for the first couple of days to first week. After that it's a waste. They don't last as long as they claim.

    I Just used false eyelashes..
    cheaper.
They are a pain in the ass until you get the hang of em though.
Plus they come in all kinds of different lengths and colors,so you can switch it up from night to night if you want

I need something that will hold up for about two days for an underwater photoshoot in a few weeks. I wear the individual stick on lashes a lot, but they fall off and I know the water will wash them away in no time. As for Latisse, it takes too long and I don't have enough time to grow them out. So it's either a really great mascara or the permanent lash extensions.

I think extensions would be appropriate if it's a one-time thing.

I had eyelash extensions for a month in December. They were great at first but fell out all the time! When I had them removed, my own eyelashes were 50% gone with them! This is March and they still haven't grown in properly! I started a new product called Latisse and hopefully that will work!

^^^ Sounds like maybe I should have started Latisse a few months ago. How long does it take for you to see a big difference with Latisse?

A few weeks. Most people see a noticeable bump in growth after 3 weeks, with the maximum effect at about 12 weeks. You could always get extensions for the shoot, remove them and THEN start Latisse.

The lady that did mine didn't say anything about swimming.. but she said I can't use mascara, eye makeup remover, or anything greasy. She said they would last up to two weeks, mine lasted over three weeks.

They were really annoying, at first I loved them, but then some of them started to sort of poke into my eye, the end of it sort of pushes into my eye, or they started facing different directions.

It cost me $65 for the first time, and then "fills" were $35. They might have been $30.. anyhow, I can't remember the brand name, but I remember she todl me she had to take a certain course just to be able to buy that brand.. whatever that means.. probably just a sales pitch.

They would fall out, and my eyelashes looked kind of weird, but no one asked if I was wearing fakes.. They look way more natural (to me) than the strip fake lashes.

It hurt getting them put on, she had to tape my lower lashes so she wouldn't get glue on them, and when she took the tape off, it hurt a lot. plus the glue really stung. I remember thinking the first time I did them, "never again" but then I did go back for the "fill" so I guess I thought it was worthwhile, but now my real eyelashes are so short, and sparse.. but I was really pulling at the fake ones to get them off so that could explain why..

I thought about getting these when I was in makeup school, but then I found out about lashtite. It's the glue you buy in the drugstore for individual lashes that comes in a clear glass vial. I cut the little ball off the end of individual falsies and glue the cluster right to the base of my real lashes.

They look totally natural, they stay on for 4-6 days, and you can wash them with soap and use mascara if you want. Just no oily makeup remover. Plus, it's like 10 bucks for the glue and lashes.

I get my lashes done all the time. I first got hooked on them around December and like yourself I had a ton of questions too trust me lol

Well from what I got you can swim in them. I workout about 6 days a week along with running so I sweat alot and they made me look fresh and I didn't have to do to much to my eyes just put on my eyeshadow. However I had to switch to pencil I noticed liquid would drip into the line of glue.

I love them and when they do fall out which for me is one at a time you really couldn't tell to bad. I pay about $40.00 for a full new set and if I need any touch ups I get that done for $20.00

To me they have cut my make up time down a whole lot. I love waking up and having that fresh sexy look.

But it's up to you doll if you want to do it or not. It was super painless and soooo worth it for me and what I experience from having them.

Good luck and congrats on the photo shoot!!

theres a porduct that was used for gluacoma patients, they noticed their eyelashes got a lot longer, they now remade it for public use just for longer eyelashes. if you use it everyday as directed it is said to work really well, if anyone is interested here is a link.....i use false lashes personally only because i cant afford to take any more medication, weather they be eye drops or pills.

I was able to buy Lumigan (the glaucoma drug) online. $12.50 per 3ml vial, plus $24 shipping. The shipping is a flat fee, so I got two vials.

^^^ How long did it take to notice a different? Has anyone compared that to Latisse?

I don't think I have enough time to grow my natural lashes longer, but maybe I could use it after to avoid mascara.

I've only been using it a couple weeks, but I've noticed a small difference.

The active ingredient in Lumigan is the same one in Latisse: bimatoprost. It was originally Lumigan users who noticed the eyelash-lengthening effects of the medication.

It's an eye drop, but instead of putting it IN the eye, I put a drop on a small brush and brush it along the lash line.

If you do get eyelash extensions, be careful of where you get them. A friend of mine got hers done at a nice well known spa down here and they looked great. Over the course of a few weeks they fell out and her natural eyelashes were so damaged from them that most of them fell out, too.

Unless you have thick eyelashes naturally, I wouldnt go for extensions. They don't look very good unless you have a bunch of em!

I've never gotten them "done" at a salon, but I've put them on myself. I bought Ardell's indiv lashes (w/a knot on the end) from Sally Beauty Supply. I then used the special glue for the indiv lashes and put about 5 on each eye towards the outer corners for the cat-eye look.

1.) Can you swim with them? I wouldn't recommend it w/these kind. Though, the glue is waterproof, I believe, so if they get wet in the shower it's no biggie.

2.) Are any brands better than others? I'm sure they are, and I'm sure Sally Beauty doesn't have the best quality.

3.) What's the average cost? The lashes cost about $5 and the glue was maybe $4?

4.) How long do they normally last? Mine last for about a week max, and 5 days, min.

5.) Does it look weird when one falls out? Can you just replace it or do you have to go in? Mine didn't look weird when they fell out, but that's because I put some of top of others.

Thanks ladies! I've decided just to go with waterproof mascara.

I've got a friend who is a "beauty doctor" and sells Latisse, so I'm going to see if I can convince him to let me try a bottle for free or cheap.
