    Default Saddlebags :(

Hi, I am hoping someone on here can help me out.

Over the last few months, I have successfully trimmed a few unwanted pounds. But despite my overall success, one problem area still plagues me: the upper outter thigh, AKA saddlebags. And because my hips have thinned a bit, the bulge is more pronounced... exaggerating my greatest insecurity.

I have been told that it is not possible to "target fat" and I have no control over from where my body takes stored fat. Does that mean there is nothing I can do???

I would like to lose weight there as well, but the slimming and toning exercise I am doing have not had any effect, despite the fact that they are obviously working elsewhere. I'd love any advice you have.

It's true. Spot reduction doesn't exist. Maybe you should combine a lot of cardio with toning exercising?

Lower body resistance training with heavy weights.

Thanks for the ideas. I got a PM that made me want to clarify:

My BMI is 20, and my body fat about 21%. I am slender and comfortable with my overall weight. I just have a those two little pockets of fat that aren't as responsive to diet and exercise as the rest of my body. I realize that makes me the ideal candidate for lipo, but I am not looking for surgery... just a little natural weight loss advice.

I am currently doing cardio and toning exercises, but have one area in which it's not having the desired effect. If anyone has recommendations for how I can impact that area, I'd really appreciate it. (thanks patchouli)

I don't know if I should even be posting this cause it probably sounds pretty weird, but my friend swears by this. She gets this massage fat reduction treatment that they have at some Asian salons. Massage is not even the word for it. The esthetician has this machine that is sort of like a vacuum that grabs a bunch of flesh, and twists and squeezes it... afterwards, she is bruised and she says it hurts a lot. But she swears by it.. I tried to find something on the internet for you to look at, but this is the clsoest I could find about it. The sites aren't even really what she gets done, but sort of..

She only gets it on her stomach and thighs. she says it helps.. I don't know.
Sorry, I just re-read your question and you are asking for natural weight loss advice, and this isn't really it.. but I thought I'd post it anyways..

I find that self-tanner really helps to slim down the appearance of certain areas too if you apply it a certain way.

^^^ That's cellulite treatment, and it's not the same but the FDA has approved massage for cellulite reduction - so that says something!

My gym has a wave machine that helped my saddlebags. You stand up hold onto the handels and the foot pedals go out sideways, it targets the area like nothing else i've seen- hope that makes sense.
