Default Tips or suggestions for those trying amateur night?

Hey, I have a few students who want to go out and try a group amateur night. Do you have any hints, tips or suggestions for them?

Do they get to keep tips?
Do they have to wear shoes?
Do they have to get naked?
Do clubs hire based on performance?
    Grooming hints/tips?
As a dancer, what's your view on these contests? Good or bad?
    Surefire way to win?
Internet pics? (I think some clubs like to post winners?

I know every club is different but I have no idea what to tell them.

well im in ky and the amy night is all about audience applause, so i woild say, if the one your going to is based on audience, you may want to bring a lot of people you know to cheer your students on. The two clubs I have done amy night at were semi lenient. You had to come on stage in something that covered your top and bottom, no thongs. Since I didnt have a gown at the time, I wore a tube top strapless dress. The nudiety was based on comfort, so basically you did what you wanted, but obviously got more applause if you took more off. I did all floor work because i didnt know the pole. The main thing I was told was to make sure you do everything slow. Most dancers who dont have much experience are nervous and they tend to speed up their dancing ad not realize it. so i was told to go slower, even though it felt weird to me, it was the right pace. We were allowed in the dressing room, but i was told not to bring much, since i wasnt given a place to lock anythign up. basically i came ready to dance, wore my dress with warmup pants and a tank top. I brought my heels and they were the only thing I had to put on before I went on stage. I cant think of much else, maybe after there are some more responses something will come to me.

Oh also I remember i originally called to ask what to wear and they told me a bikini would do or lingerie, as long as it wasnt a thong. The first place dancer was usually offered a job, some of the other dancers were too, depending on skills, peronality and of course looks. I was also told to bring a pair of heels , I had five inch heels that i was wearing for bachelor parties, so i just wore those.

I would call the club you are thinking of going to and ask what they requiere, they are usually happy to answer any questions. We were also allowed to keep our tips, i dont remember what i did though, and the winner won 1000 dollars, so i dont think i was much concerned with tips i wanted to win. but i assume you could keep them.

ask the club about the rules. they vary.

    best way to win...
    smile a lot
    look like you're having fun
try to actually have fun up there
wear something relatively "normal". not stripper clothes. personally, i like to start with a dress that doesn't flatter me very much, then strip down to something that definitely does.

any amateur contests i've done have involved music that was really hard to dance to. even a pro would look like an amateur up there. the whole idea is to just be a really hot, sexy, naughty girl next door getting her thrill turning guys on. yep.

How would you tell the difference between an amateur night meant for hiring or an amateur night done for fun?

^ Aren't they usually the same thing? At my club, they'll never hold an amateur night specifically for hiring purposes, but if one of the winners there wants a job, she's usually hired.

As a side thing...be nice to any dancers you deal with that night. If you or any of your friends decide to work there, the dancers will remember if you were unpleasant that night.

Also be aware that a lot of the time, girls who have been dancing for years and not even remotely amateur do these nights, so you will likely be up against a mixed bag of girls.

How is that remotely fair? It's "amateur" night, not "I do this for a living" night. I think they should disqualify girls that are suspiciously too good.

    I agree wholeheartedly.

That said, I doubt it will be changing anytime soon. The clubs don't care, they just want the customers to come in who come to see the contest and they want the potential group of girls to try and hire.

Do most amateur girls even really stand a chance of getting hired against the veterans?

I'd like to think I'm a damn good dancer, but I just don't know any pole tricks and such, so I know I'm at a disadvantage there...

Any advice for holding your own against the pro's?

It really depends on the club. If the management, or a pool of "judges" (i.e. pre picked folks by the management) are deciding, real ams dont have a huge shot in my experience.

If though, it is mostly crowd applause, etc. Then you've got just as much of a chance. The average crowd loves the amateur look

Not a lot of tips other than to read the crowd and watch their reactions to the other girls and base what you do on that.

So, it's probably better to go close to the end if you can help it?
