    Question Short hair and Braces

Hi, I have lurked, but this is my first post here on SW.

I have danced in the past, years ago and due to my present financial circumstance, I am contemplating jumping back in the game.

My question is should I be concerned about my hair length? It is presently an angled chin-length bob. I could get extensions or dye it a bright color, but I am wondering if it is worth the hassle.

Also, I have braces - just got them, so removing them at this point is not an option.

    What are your thoughts?

I really wouldn't worry about getting extensions. I too have short hair, and though I've tried every conceivable variation of extensions, wigs, and hairpieces to add length, I've found that my hair length does not make a difference in my earnings. In fact, my top nights, money wise, were the nights that I was wearing my natural, short hair!

The top earner at my club had short hair--like boy short. Banked every night. I think short hair, if it suits you, can really make you stand out in a GOOD way.

And the braces--well, since you're stuck with those, why not play up the school girl angle?

Thanks so much - I figured its all about your level of confidence. Plus it will grow, lol.

Yes, I was thinking about the school girl angle as well as play up my island heritage - Jamacian and Cape Verdean.

    Thanks again!

I would agree that you'll do fine. Just try to look the "barely legal" type and the guys will be all for it - especially with the braces!

A girl I work with has braces and is completely new to dancing. So she hasn't got her hustle down yet, but invariably once per night someone with a thing for braces will come in and make her night.

A friend of mine who used to work at my club has very short hair. She bought wigs at first, and sometimes wore them, but honestly said she didn't make significantly more money with the wigs. She did really well consistently.

I'd agree with everyone else--you either have to go all the way or go home! So highlight your flaws (i.e. your braces). In my experience, women who try to hide their braces (yes, I've worked with strippers who still have braces) do very poorly. Guys see right through it. But if you make it part of your act, I think you'll do very well! Definitely play up the youth angle!

And good luck! Keep us updated!
