Default Who do you go to?

I spilled a glass of water on the bar about 2 hours after doing shots with a customer. The bartender, while helping me pick up the ice, decides to ask me a few questions. "Am I taking any medication? I've only had those two shots right? Have I been drinking in the dressing room? Does she need to start searching my bags? Well I'm going to keep an eye on you anyway." IN FRONT OF MY CUSTOMER!!! WTF? Am I over reacting by wishing there was a way to get her fired? and if not, what would be the best way to go about it?

Well, it's at the bar and if she had seen you drinking than she may have reason to believe that this was related. However, I think she's jumping the gun and you might want to talk to her directly about what happened and how it made you feel. If she pitches a fit go to the manager.

I think she definitely should have pulled you over to the side first. I also think she should have stuck to asking alcohol related questions, wtf is up with asking if she needs to search your bags? As long as it's not a regular occurrence with you, I don't see what the dealio is, yo. I think a much better question would have been, "Are you leaving soon? Would you like me to call you a cab when you're ready to go?"

The fact is, this situation could have been handled with much more discretion. I had something like this happen me tonight, don't worry sugah, it'll be fine. There's nothing wrong with having some fun once in a while, as long as it's responsible.

For the record, I have a tendency to knock shit over no matter what, so don't worry about it. More concerning is my habit of walking into things.... I've got so many bruises, it looks like I'm in an abusive relationship! And this is after my boyfriend has jokingly duct taped towels around the things I normally walk into.

I think she was right to ask you those questions.. But completely innapropiate to ask you in front of your customer! If I were you next time I see her I'd tell her that I'd appreciate a little more discretion next time.

I don't think that drugs should have even been mentioned over ONE spilled drink. People spill drinks even when they aren't drinking, so why drugs need to even be mentioned seems a little excessive.
And it is a big NO NO to mention that type of stuff in front of a custy, that is just bad business. Anything like this should be done privately. This happened to me once when a bouncer walked over to me as I was sitting with someone and he said that that bartender had cut me off. I immediately informed management of this and not only did the bouncer get reamed for doing this in front of a customer, but so did the bartender since she meant to have him cut off someone else and not me.
I would say something to management because it looks bad on the club to have a bartender mention drugs or checking for drugs in front of the customers, it makes the club look as if they have a problems like that all the time and that is NOT how you want the club portrayed.
Please don't lick me, it tickles..

Absolutely unacceptable. I am a klutz and I bang into stuff and knock things over all the time...completely sober. To assume you are plastered after seeing you do only 2 shots, and to go further by assuming you are on drugs and threatening you IN FRONT OF A CUSTIE....NOT ok.

Either theres more to this story..or the bartender is a nutcase that has it out for you for some reason. I'd talk to the manager.

The bartender is barely old enough to be drinking. Apparently Saturday was her 22nd, or perhaps 23rd, birthday. She apparently has never heard the "Don't Piss Off The Stripper" rule. Especially if she believes that I'm an addict of some kind she by god better believe I'm crazy to boot.

If I ever see a manager there, hopefully this afternoon while I'm at work, I'll make sure to take the time and say something to them about it.

Quite frankly I don't care what the bleached bimbo believes about me, I'm fairly sure that half the world would assume that I'm a drunk or a drug addict because of my job. *shrugs* But that kind of comment at the bar in front of customers just made me want to spork her in the trachea.

On the positive side I now have a sure fire method acting trigger for incensed outrage.

I'm not sure you'd be able to get her fired over that, but I would definitely say something to the manager. Saying things like that in front of a custie just makes the place look bad!

She probably asked because she was stereotyping you. Of COURSE all dancers mix drugs and alcohol!

Anyway, sorry that happened to you. I'd just tell your manager you felt she was being unprofessional and would have preferred if she had talked to you about it in private. Or, you could talk to her too.

*snrk* I was there yesterday (pulled a double or I would have posted this when I got home) and the OWNER of the bar was actually tending bar during the afternoon. When she was in the kitchen I told her what happened and the look on her face! Apparently the stuck up fat blonde who believes I'm a drunk and a drug addict is already on thin ice, job wise.

I wonder if they'll be hiring bartenders soon? I have a friend who could use a job and he has a license to tend bar...
