Ok, so tonight I go in. I'm feeling kinda tired, so I get 2 red bull vodkas, tall (i prefer tall, that way they aren't as strong.). As I order the second, the bartender is all, oh don't drink too much.
Flash forward to about 11 pm, 2 drinks later. There's a big group of korean guys that 'have money'. I'd stopped by earlier, asked if I could join them, and they said in a bit. So I came back an hr or so later. I ask if I can join them, they say yes. I sit down, am joking around and say, 'just so you know, sunday is my fun day; i'm feeling sassy and sarcastic tonight.' yeah. a few minutes later, three of the guys get up. I figure they're gonna go take a piss and do some coke or something, since guys never get up at the same time and say they're gonna be right back. Bout 5 minutes later, they come back. Everythings till hunky dorey at this point. A couple of minutes after that, one of the bouncers comes up to me and waves me over. I go over to talk to him. This is how the conversation goes.
Him: How much have you had to drink?
Me: Huh? 4 vodka redbulls since before 8. (it's 11ish now and I hold my liquor very well, btw. I've got a buzz going, maybe even tipsy, but no way am I drunk or wasted.)
Him: Well, we just got a customer complaint that you were wasted. I'm not gonna say who it is, but I'm letting you know. And don't ask who it is, I'm not going to tell you. Don't get upset, though.
Me: Um, ok..... Was it someone I sat with recently?
Him: Yes.
Me: Was it a group?
Him: Yes. Don't get upset, though.
Ok, so this leaves it down to a group of 3 ppl that were wasted off their asses and buying me drinks, or the korean guys. I'm guessing the korean guys of which 3 hopped up after I was joking with them for 2 minutes.
Yeah. I find this really ridiculous, especially since after that I make a point to only drink water, whereas at least 2 girls procede to get shitfaced. AND the bouncer that says this to me ends up being highly disrespectful, making me stand around for several minutes in street clothes while I am waiting to get walked out. I really also am offended due to not only how he handled the situation, but by the fact that the other bouncer knows that although I get tipsy, I tend to be silly and fun. I'm one of his 'girls', in fact. (Since most of you guys aren't in the industry, all bouncers and managers have 'girls'. They're the ones that they like, and try to hook up or ask to come in if there aren't enough girls. Quite a handy thing to be, not to mention they tend to be more protective and helpful.)
Now, I know I was a little tipsy when I sat with those guys. But I also know that I didn't say a DAMN thing that was even offensive, or act like I was shitfaced. I also am pissed off at how the whole situation was handled. I understand that the bouncer is new-ish, but for chrissake, I've been involved in this industry for nearly 5 years, and I've NEVER had something like this happen. I understand I have a sense of humor that might not be for everyone, but this was insane.
I really don't mean to sound racist, but being an Asian Studies minor, I know that they tend to view women as being subservient. In fact, one of my buddies lives in Japan, and if a guy bumps into her in the train, she gets a dirty look for not apologizing.
Am I completely blowing things out of proportion by taking this in the wrong way, or do you guys agree? I mean, I was making these guys crack up. I've been dancing for 5 years, and I've never had this happen. What do you think?
