    Default So nervous!

So i'm a total noooooob at all of this but I really want to do it.

All I have to do is go back to the club- No auditions or anything... just have to show up.

I'm all ready; have the license, shoes, first few outfits and I said to my self " ok i'll go on XXXXX this week". Its comming fast and I dont think I'm ready. I'm now getting super nervous.

I picked a week day, but now I'm worried that if I go on a weekday that it will be really slow and I won't get the right impression of what this is all about. Should I go on a busy night?

It took me a while to get the license and now it's been a couple of weeks... Will the manager even remember me when I go back?

I know I just have to do it, but with no girlfriends to drag along with me, it's super scary!

Why not start on a slow night to get your feet wet?...especially if you're that nervous.

BELIEVE ME, it's a better idea to start out on a slow night.

I was used to working smaller clubs here in town, and when I switched to a big, corporate club - I got hired easily enough ... but I went in on a Saturday night. It was SO overwhelming, even for me - and I'd been dancing almost a year at that point!

Get your feet wet on a slower night, familiarize yourself with the club itself, the house-mom (if you have one), some of the girls and the managers, etc. Go for slow nights your first 3 or 4 days ... and EASE yourself into a busy night. Maybe start working earlier in the shift, when the club is still slow and let the night transition into it's full capacity by the end so you aren't shell-shocked by it.

That's what I eventually did, and had 2 friends who I worked with at a small club do too. It worked out great for us, and now we're all comfortable working in the heat of a Saturday night where the club is standing-room-only.

Don't worry about it, sweetheart. You'll do fine!

I just started last weekend but I worked Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. The club was packed all the nights I worked. I thought that felt better because the slow night would have made me more self concious and feeling awkward just wandering around without new "customers" to practice on. I was just like you, so excited and then TERRIFIED when it came to driving to the city I work in and going to the club. I had to drink a couple glasses of wine. But after an hour, a tour, changing I was feeling a lot more comfy, my first time on stage wasn't even as bad as I had expected. I was scared and most of my movements(like actually walking on to the stage) where done robotically, like I just forced myself to do them and mentally went on sleep mode so I could just get it over with.

This weekend...I'm not nervous, I'm not concerned with drinking beforehand. But it honestly helped me that first night. I'd have been a pound of nerves if I hadn't.

    Good luck!

I think it'd probably be best to go on a slow night, so your co-workers will be more inclined to help you out with your questions. If it's extremely busy, then I think you'll be overwhelmed by the rush of activity, and no one will have time to help you out.

And as for being nervous...try to convince yourself that what you're doing is merely a business decision. Don't focus on what you'll actually be doing. Say to yourself "Tonight, my name is [stage name], and I'm going to walk in there, do my thing, and make money." Focus on your stripper persona. Create a different reality for yourself in which your alter-ego can easily do things like take her clothes off in front of others. Pretend you're in a movie. Basically, try to brainwash yourself. This is what I did, and I wasn't even nervous my first night (despite not having anyone with me and being a naive 18 year old).

Focus on how good you'll feel AFTER you go in and start working. Think of getting from point A (home) to point B (the club). Baby steps. Put your clothes on. Do your hair. Go on stage. Take your clothes off. And you're done! Again, focus on how confident and successful going through with it will feel. Focus on $ or whatever drives you.

Good luck! You will be FINE. We have ALL been through what you'll be going through...and I honestly think it's the best decision I've ever made.
