    Default Music format

What music formats have been followed at the clubs you've worked at? All rock? All rap? All dance? All Latin? Anything goes?

Has anyone worked at a spot that followed different formats on different days of the week or different shifts?

The only music formats I've known was when the DJ was in full control and the songs had to be Top 40. Other than that the general rules and the clubs I have worked have basically been no rap and no hard rock.

At my club its pretty much anything goes, you bring in your cds/ipod or you can pick from the computer library.

I've never worked at a club where you couldn't choose the music, nor would I. I am astounded that quite a few clubs only play (gag) top 40. What are they trying to attract 12 year olds? I did once audition at a club, but turned it down when told I would have to dance to top 40. I even brought in songs that made the top 40 but these weren't accepted. I do know one club I worked at had a country only night (I think it was Tuesday or Wednesday) but never worked those nights either.

Personally, I've always danced to alternative and stuck to that format, except for a classic rock song here and there. I could never dance to other genres.

i have never worked at a club where you couldnt choose the music either^^^ until now. no rap, no hard rock (disturbed, yess considered hard rock by the owner) linkin park (some of it) i cant think of anymore im tired. anyways, i think he may have alterior motives other then the customers not liking it. i think he thinks that black girls wont want to work there if he doesnt let girls dance to rap...haha thats kentucky for ya.
