    Default Hot and Sour Soup

I'm not sure if it's the norm, but the chinese food place around me serves really thick hot and sour soup. I'm guessing it's so thick bc of the cornmeal in it? Besides the sodium, does anyone know if this soup is bad for you. Does it have more calories than most soups? It seems healthy, otherwise, considering that it has veggies and tofu.

Also, if anyone has the nutrition info for THICK egg drop soup and hot and sour soup, please let me know. When I look it up on calorieking, it says that hot and sour soup (1 cup) is only 100 calories. To me, this seems little considering that there is tofu, pork, and cornmeal in it. I'm sure there's some sugar, as well.

We'd really need to know the ingredients and how much of everything the soup contains to give you any good information. Sometimes restaurants will give you the recipe, maybe you should just ask them about that and calculate it online.

you should know the ingredients... but most restaurants arent concerned about your sodium intake, and whether they should be using reduced fat pork so chances are it is high in sodium from the broth they use. also is there alot of egg in it? that would contribute to the fat content (along with the pork) and cholesterol. also how much oil and what kind do they use? some use both sesame and peanut so that adds to the fat percentage and calorie content as well.

    1 cup = ~150-160 calories

sodium is over half of recommended daily intake. That is normal h&s soup. The ones I have gotten are not 'thick', though some seem thick because of the high amount of products in it, but the water part is still liquidy.

Also, it's corn starch that they use in it, maybe they used too much. And no, there's no sugar in it.

egg drop soup 1 cup = ~73 calories

    sodium is about 30% rdi.
