    Default New to the game

Hello lovely ladies! I just started dancing at a Deja Vu in the Cincinnati area about a week ago. I can't say that I have too many complaints too far except that most patrons turn me down for couch dances and there seems to be an overwhelming amount of customers who come into the club, refuse to tip on stage, won't buy dances, and just tend to pay the door fee and just sit back and watch the show. I've tried sitting down and talking to the customers, telling them about how I'm graduating college in the next month and that I'm trying to pay debts off... one guy I sat next to and chatted his ear off for about 20 mins and then asked him if he wanted a couch dance, he said no and walked out. I know the economy is bad and that people don't have a whole lot of money to throw around but I'm just frustrated because I seem to be making the same amount of cash as I did as a waitress. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I had pretty much the same problem when I worked at Deja Vu. My advice... leave. Once I switched clubs I started doing a lot better. Deja Vu is seriously a really shitty place to work.

Sadly, this has been the case at most of the clubs I have worked at for the last few months. I keep hopping from club to club, hoping to find better money, but what I find is the same situation that you just described.

Not to be a pessimist, but it's like this a lot of places right now. It wouldn't hurt to try a new club, but don't be surprised if you find the same scenario in a different setting.

Your money should get better as you become more experienced as a dancer. Work on your hustle, work on your appearance, do everything you can to market yourself, but ultimately, don't take it personally if you aren't making the money you want. I'm in the exact same boat, and so are a lot of girls, even veteran dancers.

On Friday the club I work at was packed, almost all the seats but the ones at the stage were filled. And for literally four hours, NO ONE got any dances. No table dances, no private dances, nothing. We were standing around watching these guys, and they were turning down EVERYONE. There was even a bachelor party there, with like 4 or 5 guys, and none of them wanted dances, and none of them wanted to buy the bachelor a dance. They just sat there for like four hours, not tipping anything, staring at the girls on stage. Then they left. All the girls made all of their money either during the first or last hour of the 8-hour shift. It was upsetting and surreal. And most of us were pretty pissed off.

If they can't afford to go to the strip club, then they shouldn't go to the strip club. I'm concerned that although this is kind of a new trend, once the economy gets better, they'll have gotten used to getting a show without having to pay, and the trend will continue. This is not behavior that should be rewarded. I'm almost NEVER rude to anyone, at work or OTC, but recently I've started getting a little snippy. If I go up to a guy and ask if he wants a dance, and he says he doesn't have any money, I'm like, "If you don't have money, why would you come here? You aren't going to get any kind of show, and the girls will get really, really pissed at you, and you REALLY don't want to deal with that."

My advice is to stick it out. That's what I've been doing. I've experimented with different hours I work, different outfits, different attitudes ... meh. It all sorta seems to be hit or miss. A lot of our girls are club hopping, to no avail.

At very least, by sticking at my home club (which is also part of the Vu chain), I've built myself a good reputation with the management as a girl they can count on to be there. I get treated better, and with more respect. So theoretically, when things pick back up - I'll be in good with upper management and I'll have a better environment to work in. Ditto with the other girls who are sticking it out. We've formed quite a good group of girls who are all trustworthy and not the typical back-stabbing-bitch type. We look out for each other - it's frankly the reason I look forward to going into work. lol

Best of luck to you honey, and try not to get too discouraged. Things will eventually get better!

Hello my name is Ruby but my stage name is diamond, I'm really sorry that things are hard right now, I was dancing like 9 years ago had to stop due to health problems! At that time it was better but men did the same thing they wanted a free show! There were some regulars that were good to the girls but my problem was the girls pure BITCHES, they said I stole customers which turned out to my brothers high school friends! I couldn't help that, I was working at a club called Nicolas in East Los Angeles California I was drugged and made it to the restroom were I passed out! You think anyone helped me to this day I still don't know I just remember being in the dressing room being talked about and stared at like it never even happened! Shortly after that the Manger at that time called me in to the office told me to lose weight and that the customers were complaining about my weight so he told lose it or leave so I left! The reason my stomach was so big was because I had a tumor in my uterus so it made me look like I was pregnant! I ended up with a partial hysterectomy I can go on and on about what has happened even after that which is pure hell! My point is first things first BE CAREFUL, TRUST NOBODY, remember your there to make money not to party and have fun with the customers believe me MEN ARE DOGS! Don't be cold either be nice and sweet play with them alot of those men want to just talk be an open ear let them vent out then try again after you soften them up believe me they will tip you just for sitting with them and talking to them next time they come back they will ask for you! I do plan to come back but have to fix another problem I ended up with but when it's fixed I'll be back! I hope I helped you and make that money don't let the money make you!
