Default Oh how I love jury duty...!

First time doing jury duty. They make it out to be such an honor to be fulfilling your civic duty...! Yep... just what I want to do all week- sit in a crowded room of 130 people on folding chairs with no food or room to go anywhere. And the best part... a whopping nine dollars a day! I was lucky enough to get called for the first round of jurors so I could sit in the very same courtroom with the very same judge that convicted my mom and put her in prison for three to eight years five years ago when I was sixteen. That was a bit awkward for me, and needless to say I didn't get picked for the trial. So back again tomorrow at nine am.

Sorry for a bit of a rant, but jury duty sucks...!

I lived 5 minutes from one courthouse and 20 minutes from another. You'd think those would be the courts I'd get, but no, they'd order me to one over an hour and a half from my house. Oh, and did I mention this courthouse was in a bad area and the transportation I'd have to take would go right by the housing projects? On top of that I didn't have a car then so I would have to take the bus. So I kept calling them and asking why they couldn't give me the nearby courts. They kept giving me excuses not to go and in the meantime I moved. No way am I going to the hour and a half ghetto courthouse.

I don't believe jury should be mandatory. I think it should be those who want to serve. The system is biased because many people I know never got jury duty.

jury duty is so easy to get out of.....at least in chicago they ask you questions, like related to the type of case it is....and i told them i was racist and sexually abused so it would be hard for me to not be biased......ps. im not racist. just said it so i wouldnt have to do jury duty.

I told the person last time I got jury duty that I hated the prosecutor in the particular case. I got excused. I know someone who told the judge he was in the KKK (he's not a racist).

I already got out of it once before- this time I had to go and got picked for a trial, but the judge convicted my mom so they couldn't put me in his courtroom. Instead, I have to go back tomorrow again and sit there for hours and hope that they pick me. So now, I won't be able to get out of it unless I'm picked for a trial and then disqualified from those forty people. Also, it seemed to me like the lawyers didn't want any young people on the jury. They go back and forth crossing names off from the forty people and the remaining people are the jurors for that case. Not one of the people picked were younger than 35, and there were a lot of us.

i had to go last year and the trial was about an attempted assault with a deadly weapon. i was excused because i said that its not assalt unless an actual impact occured. it kinda sucks i was excused cause i thought it would be kinda interesting.

    Your state is CHEAP!!

We get $40 per day here. But no automatic (profession) excuses anymore.
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

NOTE: anything I post here, outside of a direct quote, is my opinion only, which I am entitled to. Take it for what you estimate it is worth.
