    Duh Stupid Pole Tricks

Am I the only one who has had disasters doing pole tricks? I have had a few in my day and was hoping that I'm not alone! Here are some of my unglamorous maneuvers that have been done once, or multiple times (sigh):

    1. Slippage on a greasy pole, went crashing down and banged my head-HARD
    2. Hard spin with my leg out, kicked someone in their head-HARD
    3. Too many tricks right handed, broke my rib (have actually learned from this one-now I do tricks right and left handed-DUH!)
    4. Crunched my tits, doing inversion, and inchworm
    5. Coming down into the splits, without proper warm-up, totally pulled a leg muscle
    6. Backbend, coming up, getting a cramp in my ass and falling forward

These are just a few for now-I don't want to sound like a complete fucking idiot. I do have a disclaimer though-I've been doing tricks on/off for 10 years, so I've had many mishaps. HAHA!

Last night, some chick must have used a lot of lotion or oil or something on the pole, cause even though I wiped it, it was really slick. I pull myself up to the top, try to get a little momentum, and before I can even do the trick I realized I'd slid all the way down and my feet were like an inch from the floor. Got the towel, wiped it down again, and tried again. It worked, but when I went upside down, I just started sliding bonelessly down to the floor. Probably actually looked really graceful, but that was only part of the trick, so I wasn't too happy.

Practicing on my friends home pole the other day I completely misjudged, and slamned myself into the floor. My back and shoulders were bruised for days.

*Third week, thought there was no one in the club Tuesday, 2:00 PM*
Smacked my newbie knee on the pole on the way off of an easy spin thing, landed wrong on my newbie foot, twisted my poor newbie ankle and then fell flat on my back and hit my head on the floor.
Of course, four guys decided to be there at the same time my head connected to the floor and were laughing. They gave me a pity tip.
I decided to start laughing to, since it probably looked like a complete fail moment.
ended up making a couple hundred off those guys

When I was learning how to an inverstion (the one where you kick up your legs and wind up facing the pole upside down) I was so excited when I could do it that I did it over and over. Even when I noticed I had severe pain in my hand and foot. I kept going until I noticed the pole was slippery. Turns out that every time I kicked my leg up, the heel was cutting into my hand, and I had been bleeding all over the pole.

I noticed that it was difficult to walk when I went to clean it up. I had also broken my toe.

As far as stupid looking ones: my friends came into work specifically to see me on stage. The girl before me had used a ton of lotion and I was wearing my slippery shoes anyway. I repeatedly tried to climb up it only to fall right back down. So I explained to them afterwards why I sucked. Then one of them goes, "oh, but the girl after you was awesome!"

That's because she had an easy job cleaning the pole after I spent half my set trying! It sounded like such a lame excuse and now they all think I suck.

I usually don't fuck up on the pole; I tend to stumble across the stage.

Forgot to turn my fan off before practice, inverted and stuck my toe right into the fan. Then couldn't figure out why my toe was bleeding when I got done practicing.

Fell doing a shoulder mount and hit my head, neck and top of my back. Took 2 months to recover, and not to mention I traumatized my daughter and little sister!

    Almost broke my wrist!

    Almost broke my tail bone!

I've gotten the ass cramp before a few times also!

    Oh, the joys of poledancing!!

Oh and I forgot, when I fell from the shoulder mount I told my boyfriend, mom and doctor that I might have bleeding on the brain, so if I died, that's why lol! They all thought I was crazy, but hey, I've seen shit like that happen on TV! They have an injury and think they're fine, and 2 days later they're dead!

Before I knew how to climb th epole while inverted I was working on the caterpillar move and for whatever reason I took my legs off the pole and fell.

Fell off the pole doing a shouldermount because I was wearing a giant sweater.

Fell out of a handspring and nearly fell on my head.

Fell out of a layback - had been doing pole tricks for maybe a week - and fell straight onto my head.

I actually pulled my pole down (it was a crappy pole) and busted a light fixture and cover and had glass rain down me - have decided I only like money rain after that.

Fell out of the yogini when I first learned it.

Flung myself off a spinning pole when I went too hard into a spinning shouldermount.

No serious injuries though just bruised pride.

Wow. Be careful you guys! Remember, you f**k yourselves up, and you won't be able to work. Then what? If you are practicing crazy stuff at home, you should get a good quality practice mat, it doesn't guarantee you won't hurt yourself, but it will help to hinder major damage. Just sayin... be careful!

I've fallen straight on my head before. Luckily, it was on my pole at home. Usually, in the club, my mistakes happen when I'm simply spinning from a standing position to the ground and I don't catch my ankle the right way. I look like an idiot, but I'm safe.

^ Could you both delete your posts and move this into PM? The discussion has little to do with this thread and just takes away from the fun of it.

Charley...you are right...my post has been removed, and forwarded via pm!

it totally did take the fun out of it...but I will leave in the mats, strictly because they can prevent injury!

first time trying to invert without boots I came down way to fast and smacked my tailbone on the pole when i came into the upside down position. I managed to gracefully cover for it and nobody noticed till after my stageset when i ran to the dressing room grabbing my ass in pain lol.

other than that ive been surprisingly lucky.

Ive had more mishaps than I care to mention... a mat wouldn't have helped since they are ALL at work. Owie. One time my manager swore I had a concussion when I fell on my head/neck. I always fall on my head.

This is also the closest I've come to a pole mishap at work. My pole at home is much more slippery than my work pole, so if I can do something at home, then I can definitely do it safely at work.

Then again, I'm not a pole monkey, so I don't really risk that much anyway. I'll do inverts and whatnot, but our 8' tall pole doesn't allow for some of the crazier tricks.

Yes, I did fall badly one time on stage at work, at the HiLiter in Phoenix, mid-90's. It was a pretty epic fall. Feature act had just gone up before me, and had been jerking off the pole with her tits covered in baby oil. I thought the doormen had cleaned it all up. Then I went up next, climbed up the pole super fast (I always wore boots, so I skipped the oil slick going up). I then did what I guess I would call a rotating fan, that drops into the splits on the floor, from about 15ft up. However, the baby oil on the pole at the bottom, made me descend too quickly at the end, and I ended up landing in the chinese splits so fast I whacked my CHIN on the stage in front of me, while in the splits. SPLAT. Split my chin wide open. Blood everywhere, I stood up, in a thong and boots, completely drenched in blood. I swooped up my money, and left stage. Then they had to clean that up. Ha. I went to the ER and had 8 stitches in my chin right after that. I had about $300 in blood drenched singles to wash. Fun. :-)
