    Default Job Interview Question

This may be one of the dumbest questions some of you've read, but...

What do you do when you have interviews w/2 different jobs about a week apart, if the 1st job offers you a position? I'm basically just thinking of all possible scenerios, bc I'm guessing that they want time to think, as well. I've never been in a potential situation like this bc I've always gone after only 1 job.

I'm guessing that I shouldn't tell them that I'll let them know once I go to another interview the following week. But at the same time, I have to be upfront and can't lie and tell them that I can definitely start, then (if I get hired @ the other place) suddenly quit. I don't want to waste anyone's time.

So what's the "correct" thing to say if this situation were to occur?

Don't tell them you have another interview. When you interview, give them an availability of 2 weeks. If you get the job, then the other, you just call them and tell them you cannot take the job as you had another offer.

Also, don't show up too early, only 15 minutes prior to interview. And don't talk about how bad the economy is, nor how its affecting you.

If the first job is the one you want more, you accept it.

If the second job is the one you want more, you tell the people that you're interviewing with there that you'd prefer to work for them, but you have an offer from another company and you need to know how serious they are about you.

If both are equal, you take the first offer.
