Default BAD case of razor burn

I've been shaving my vag for years and have rarely had problems with ingrowns/razor burn. I'd get a bump here and there...but ever since I started dancing they keep multiplying. I got out of the shower today and I was covered in bumps on my mound. It's very noticeable and hideous, and there's no way I can go to work tonight! (I dance at a nude club) Makeup will not cover them up.

I've used BikiniZone, neosporin, prep H, etc...I don't know what to do! I want to get a wax but I can't wait for the time it would take to grow my hair out.

You may also want to look into a product called Tend Skin ...

    http://www.tendskin.com/index.htm

I'm sure if you do a search on it you'll find a bunch of threads mentioning it as well.

Here's one thread... (Note: The 2nd poster recommends another product as well)

Deodorant. Works like a charm. Apply liberally as soon as possible after shaving. I use Lady Speed Stick invisible dry.

Try shaving after soaking in a warm bath for 15 minutes so the hair will soften and not cause as much irritation. Or at least leave the shaving foam on for several minutes before you shave. Ideally, do both.

I have had horrible luck using women's razors of any brand, switch to a men's razor, they are far superior at the same cost. If this is still no good, try ordering a single blade old style razor online, this gets a much closer shave (Practice first!) and so you have to shave less often and maybe have less irritation.

I also use bikini zone, and find it works well. I can't wax because the ingrown hairs / bumps are even worse. Focus on softening the hair, and also switch razors. I have had very good luck with the newer vibrating models. Also, use a shaving cream designed to reduce irritation, I get much better results with Aveeno than anything else. You could also try the new line of shaving oils by some companies, but I have found them to merely clog up blades. One of my friends swears by them though.

    Good luck!

Thank you! I'm trying everything you all just mentioned. I was really upset about missing work tonight.

hey when i first found this forum back in 2005 i was just starting to dance and this girl posted a really good little deal she had for not getting razor burn or bumps, i have used it ever since every time i shave, here goes:

shave with shaving cream or whateever you use (*bikini zone brand makes a good shave gel for that area)

after rinsing off gel or whatever, take some baby oil and rub it on the outside only, just pat it on, nothing intense

rinse a little and once your out of the shower use this stuff called bikini zone its for razor burn and bumps, it doesnt leave a residue or anything, you just use it on the outside.
i have done this for years and have never gotten any razor burn

    Thank you all.

I use Bikini Zone chitownchick! The shave gel and the cream...I'll try using baby oil. I don't what's up my skin, I've never had this problem before and I've been shaving forever. It just decided to get sensitive out of nowhere.

Benefit cosmetics makes a balm called Dr Feelgood. It rocks after shaving or waxing.

Also, if you're up to it: you can shave the bumps then apply facial toner and neosporin ointment. Wait a bit then wipe off and proceed with your night. It'll burn like hell but clear you up in hurry.

Shaving with tea tree oil can help too as well applying after hair removal. You can find all kinds of tea tree oil products in health food stores or Paul Mitchell makes several items as well.
