    Default stung by a wasp!

Kind of random I know...but I sat on the mother fucker and it stung me right on my ass! This was two days ago and I have this HUGE red spot that itches like crazy and it's all swollen. I couldn't go in to work tonight cuz I know that everyone would be staring and wondering what that hideous thing on my ass was haha. Any suggestions on how to make this go away before Thursday when I have to work again?
So far I've tried hydrocortisone cream and Benadryl but they both didn't do much.
    Help!

Baking Soda. Make a paste out of it and smear it on the sting.

    That's a bad spot too.

Break a cigarette in half - take out the tobacco. Get the tobacco wet. Use some sort of bandage to keep it in place on the sting. You don't have to keep the bandage on your boo-boo forever. I'd do one of these things overnight.

The soda will draw out the poison from the sting and so will the tobacco.

Hmm. Are you sure the stinger is out? I know wasps don't have barbed stingers like bees, but seeing as you sat on him, I would check.

Cool chamomile tea bags may soothe the irritation, and calamine may help the itch, but really, it's just time. Or you could ice it. Keep it clean, and put some neosporin on it. Watch it for changes. If it gets bigger, or looks like it may have pus, go get it checked out. If it gets smaller, as it should, you can probably cover it up with makeup.

Wasps can sting over and over. So it might of gotten her poor behind more than once. Stings don't usually have infection in them that causes pus - it's a poison delivery system. Like a spider or snake bite.

I wanted to add, take some ibuprofen too like Motrin. It has an anti-inflammatory in it, so that should help with the swelling. If you have some of that pink lotion stuff that is used for Poison Ivy. Can't remember the name of it right now - that should get rid of the itching.

Also if you develop any weird mouth or throat symptoms, swelling - thickness of the tongue or difficulty breathing. GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM!!!

Me personally, I'm highly, highly allergic to bee and wasp stings. It's not fun.

Yeah, I got stung by a wasp on my face like 3 times when I was a kiddo. I was just thinking if she scratched too much, can get infected like any othe open wound.

The pink stuff is Calamine. ;-) I didn't think of Motrin- good idea.

My sister has many, many allergies that cause anaphylaxis, so I agree. And weirdness, get thee to the hsopital. Though if it's been a days or so, I think she'd have had a reaction by now.

True, but you never know. Best to be a little paranoid than not.

tea tree oil .. you can get it at walmart.......or break open a clove of fresh garlic and rub it on the sting, do that befoer you go to bed....it will draw out the venom and heal the bite very fast.

Take Benedryl, or it's generic. I got one in my finger (actually stung me twice). I asked pharm. & that's what she told me, it does make you sleepy tho. There's also a spray w/a Bendedryl-like product in it, use that too. What's bad is the pressure you can't help putting it, when you sit. Damn bugs. I get the damn things, they built their freakin' nests around my house every year, & they love my place especially, it sits in a southern exposure, gets sun all damn day.

Oop, I just saw where you said Benedryl didn't help. Hmm. They have drawing salve, maybe try that? How about a mud mask (maybe one for sensitve) to help draw it out. Campho-Phenique is a great product, I use it on my cold sores, which can itch like crazy. Good luck

cut an onion in halph and sit on it. after sitting on it for halph an hour dab some mud mask on sting, let almost dry, put vasoline on top and cover with band aid. good luck.
the stinger wouldnt still be in you because its attached to the venom sac located inside of the thorax of the wasp.
my father was an apiculturist so i spent my summers growing up getting stung every other day. onions than mud poltice always do the trick.

Make a paste from a broken capsule of activated charcoal (health food store) and a small amount of water takes the pain out immediately and draws out the poisons. After that, if you still feel pain when you touch it- the stinger is probably still in. Ouch
