Yes, show up looking snazzy and ask to audition! That's your best bet.

It sounds like you've done thorough research and preparation, and honestly, it sounds like you're over-thinking things, and also, being a bit of a perfectionist. Truthfully, it's nice to have the perfect tan, the perfect outfit, the perfect weight, but it is by no means necessary. You sound like you look very nice right now. In fact, you and I have the same measurements and very similar facial features, judging by the description.

It sounds to me like you've reached the point where you've learned all you can on your own. It's time to take the plunge and do it. Really, you learn how to be a stripper by being a stripper. Nothing else can prepare you for it.

When you start stripping, your body will change (it'll tone up), and you'll have a better sense of what flatters you and what doesn't. I would start with just one outfit that makes you feel sexy. Hold off on buying anything new--it isn't necessary, and your tastes will probably change once you start.

As far as being sexy, it'll come. I don't feel sexy at all half the time--I still feel like a pretender up there! But when you get a glimpse of yourself in the mirrors, and see your naked body looking all sexy in the club lighting, you'll feel hot.

I work in a topless club, so I can't advise you about shaving.

    Good luck!

^ Yes. I'd agree--it sounds like you've done as much preparation as you can. Now you just need to get up the guts to do it!

And trust me--the outfit problem isn't that big of a deal. I wore some god-awful outfits (tight in all of the wrong places, full-coverage stuff) when I first started, and I still made money! Your newbie enthusiasm will make up for a lot.

About shaving: try running an advanced search in our Body Business forum. Some great information in there!

Talking to the club on the phone doesn't usually get very far because they want to see you in person. Just go in and say you'd like to audition.

Trust me, they do not care if you walk in wearing a coat, just wear something sexy underneath it.

I'm in a nude club and shave with the grain. I've never been able to get completely smooth and probably never will be able to. But I do have very dark hair so I just cover it with some makeup and it looks fine.

I'm still really new to dancing! I make mistakes every night and still wobble in my stillettos sometimes and it's okay. I feel that dancing is a huge boost to one's self-esteem and confidence. I researched it for at least 3 or 4 months until I finally realized that I just had to jump into it or I was never going to do it. Good luck!

I wish I had girl friends I could talk to about this stuff!

Oh! And how smooth do you shave your cooch? If I shave with the grain, there's still a bit of stubble - should it be baby-bottom smooth or is a little bit of stubble acceptable in a nude club? Any time I go against the grain, things aren't pretty.

ETA again: The clubs here are nearly impossible to get ahold of on the phone, and when I do they tell me different things (to come talk to a manager, to send a picture, to get an agent, etc.) I'm assuming my best bet is to go in looking snazzy and ask if they're looking for girls?
    Wow, you sound like me.

I'm really nervous about going and auditioning at any of the clubs in my area since I haven't really found any reputable ones either....

I've been wondering all the same things you have.

Anyway, I thought I'd give you some words of encouragement and let you know that you're not alone.

Well as far as the cooch questions, the clubs tend to be dark and no touch... so it really shouldn't matter as long as the shave is close and not black hair on snow white skin lol.

And as to the audition, I haven't worked up the nerve yet, but I went to support a friend on amateur night. I mentioned to the girl at the door that a friend of mine had danced there and she got really excited and asked if I wanted an audition. On a busy contest night, no appointment time and no prior info about me. The manager was at the counter a minute later thinking i was there to dance. I was shocked! So I guess just show up, scope out the club and figure out what they're going for. If it's a gown club, come in classy. If it's just an every day club, come in sexy cute. But come with a bag of your stuff and ready to dance!!

    Good luck hun!

good!! yay good luck. before you start working read hustle hut, if you want to do some studying it really has helped me. i used to ask for dances differently, i changed alot of stuff and i come off as more confident and in more control of whats going on. anyways, judging by the girls sayi ng you were "good" means they are pobably somewhat friendly. take advantage of that, if they will, ask them to help you with floor work, the pole, ask for tips on whatever you think you need help with. i know girls that will do makeup for other girls and tell you what they think of your outfits and stuff too. i have gotten some of my bikinis at walmart, it doesnt matter how much you spend, just how you look in them.. good luck

What a relief! I'm so hypercritical of myself I figured he'd just laugh me out of there!
    That's great! Congrats!

Hope your first weeks go just as swimmingly.
