    Mind Blowing Wax or Shave??

I use to shave but I get horrible shaving bumps & ingrown hair*It actually left some scars* so I wax now. How do you ladies keep yourself smooth and clean? If you shave, than how to you not get bumps and ingrowns? If you wax, how long to you wait to wax again because I know that you have to wait until it become a little hairy to wax...So do you work with a little stubble of hair until you can wax?

I hope my question made sense lol

Use deodorant after shaving. It will eliminate the bumps and ingrowns. Dove is a great one that doesn't seem to glow under the blacklights and is moisturizing as well.

ETA - If you wanna seriously avoid stubble. Wax, then shave daily when you start to get a few fine hairs growing in. Take 3 or 4 days off every month or so to grow your stubble to wax again. If you are one of those girlies who has to wait over a week to wax tho, I would avoid it entirely. You don't wanna work with stubble, it's tacky as hell, and taking a week off every month, well, you'll lose to much money.

Most girls just stick with shaving...It is a total myth that most dancers wax.

I get mad razor bumps too. And deodorant DOES NOT WORK! Neither does lotion, aloe, antibiotic ointment. Shaving in the direction of the growth simply doesn't work. Tried exfoliating, before, after, and both. Doesn't work either. Conditioner for a while before, warm water, with and without cold water after. And fresh blades only seem to make things worse.

    Any advice that actually work?

I seriously don't know then. Never met anyone that the deodorant trick didn't work for.

i thought i posted in here. anyways i learned this on stripper web back in 2005

in the shower use shaving cream or whatever you use, bikini zone makes a good shaving cream for that area.

    rinse

right before you turn the water off put some baby oil in that region, on the outside, not the inside, i just squirt a little on rinse it a tiny bit then get out of the shower

buy bikini zone - its a cream or gel you can get anywhere, wamart, walgreens, rite aid. dry off put bikini zone on. i have never gotten razor bumps sincde ive been doing this.

Try exfoliating your bikini area daily - that will help with ingrowns. Use a cheap nail brush and in the shower, after you've lathered up your bikini area, scrub firmly with the nail brush. It will probably take several months for your current breakout to clear up unfortunately and you may have some dark spots too but they will fade. If it's really bad I also recommend Tend Skin and you use that once a day after you shower and exfoliate. It'll help clear up existing ingrowns.

And stop shaving! Really, IMO there is no reason to shave if you can afford to get a bikini wax. There is no stubble with waxing...the regrowth is very fine and not very noticeable unless you have fair skin and dark hair. It's also very fine and soft, not scratchy like stubble is when you shave. Good luck!

I got my first waxing 2 weeks ago and I was very happy. I did my legs and armpits. Unfortunately because of my lovely hairy family genes the hairlessness only lasted 2 weeks. Never use deodorant after waxing, you need to treat it like an open wound and wash it every hour (if possible) and apply Neosporin or another triple antibiotic. You can use deodorant after about 3 days so it has time to heal (I got away with using it in 1.5 days) And never go into a hot tub for at least 3 days after your pits are done or you can get a nasty infection. As for the legs you can use aloe after waxing, I used this natural after shave cleanser and it was non irritating but still does not prevent ingrown/ razor bumps for me. I hate hair! hope this helped

I went out and bought an electric razor. I think it's by Philips? It's actually a men's razor, they sell it at Wal-Mart and Target, etc. I LOVE it. No razor burn. No bumps. And I always get major bumps when I shave with a regular razor. I can actually shave every day with the electric one, and no problems. They only cost like $35 or $40.

I used to have -terrible- razor burn and bumps and cuts....so embarrassing...I tried everything, and then I finally bit the bullet and got laser hair removal...Best $1800 I ever spent. No shaving or waxing and my skin down there is perfectly smooth.

Its permanent and at Ideal Image they have a deal where you can come back and get touch-ups (hair can come back due to pregnancy/menopause) for free!

for me, i shave *under* while i'm in the shower....just like normal. then for the *top* i dry shave (with NO water, and NO shaving cream) with the grain, then against the grain...while holding the skin tight in order to get as close as possible. always comes out flawless. afterwards i use a heavy cream...like shea butter or something to smooth everything over. i hardly get irritation or bumps using this method....but if i do get an ingrown or something, i use a clean, sanitized pair of tweezers to remove, then press a cotton ball with alcohol on the bump...then dab a tiny bit of neosporin on it.

before i started shaving this way, i ALWAYS had razor bumps...some of them ended up scarring...but now, everything is great. i know it sounds like a crazy way to do it, but it works for me

also, the Cleo electric razor works pretty well...but it takes a few uses for your hair to *get used* to the razor....so my first 4 shaves with it weren't all that smooth.

I get really bad razor burn too. None of those things work for me either, and I'm actually allergic to 99% of deodorant brands. The only thing that I find that helps me is this shaving stuff called "Kitty and total body shave Kreme" by intimo by wet. It's this creamy stuff that comes in a pump bottle and Priscilla's (Ciricilla's now) sells it. I don't know where to get it outside of Priscilla's (a midwest lingere store), and I'm on my last bottle at the moment and out here in LA where they don't have that store. So if anyone else uses this stuff out here in Cali, and knows where to find it, let me know. It's seriously the ONLY thing that works for me.

I think I posted this somewhere else too. Soak in the tub for about 10 minutes before shaving. This helps to soften the hair follicle and enlarge it with water, making it less resistant. This means you can get both a closer shave and less irritation.

I also never shave against the grain, because I have very course hair and it just leads to cuts. I am terrified of waxing because I've tried waxing and sugaring my legs before but due to the courseness of the hair I always wound up with a rash for several days and bleeding out of many spots where hair was pulled from. I shave first with the grain, and then on an angle about 30 degrees away from being against the grain. If there is any bits of hair left over, I get those with an electric trimmer afterwards. Also, I use Bikinizone, it doesn't prevent irritation but certainly helps you heal faster. I like the aveeno sensitive skin shaving gel as well, and use a men's razor as I find they are sharper.

DIAL SOAP! The gold bar. It's antibacterial. Those little bumps are infected hairs, from sweating and shaving too close. USE A NEW RAZOR, every time you shave your hoo-hoo. With the dial soap it gets your skin and the RAZOR too. In fact it's best if you use a different razor for shaving the girl.

If you want it waxed, which is lovely - you MUST LET YOUR HAIR GROW OUT for about a week. Gross yes, but they insist. Go to a salon that specialised in Bikini waxing. It doesnt hurt and lasts longer than shaving. After your wax job, use some sensitive skin lotion. Anything else will burn - because that skin is new and well, it's just had a bunch of hairs ripped out of it.

Hi, I used to have the same problem, one girls I work with turned me on to this and it works for me. I had the red bumps and ingrowns she told me to use 10% cortisone cream like you get at wall mart they sell it under different names just read the label use it after you shave. stopped the bumps and healed up the ones I had. Then She recommended to get a shaver called a "sieko cleancut" its the bomb! I NEVER get red or ingrowns with it. Runs on a battery so I can use it any were every couple of days I touch up and I'm good to go. Baby powder before you shave, I usually shave before I shower in the morning. Hope it helps.

I was waxing for a while and didn't like it because the hairs grew in different places at different rates, and if I shaved over it I got really irritated, so I am back to shaving. However when I did wax they gave me a product called "Tend Skin," its like a toner for your kitty It's awesome, will clear up current break outs pretty quickly/efficiently and prevent new ones from coming in as long as your consistant with it. It's the only thing that's worked for me, although I've never tried the deoderant trick.

The ladies are probably not reading this anymore...but here's my crotch care suggestions:

Get a Brazilian wax to start.

I found that I can shave the lips with no irritation. The deodorant and exfoliation works very well (for me).

For the mound, I simply pluck. After you get a waxing, the area seems less sensitive. Grab the hair by the base, as near to the skin as you possibly can. Then pull quickly. It will keep your wax looking great for a very long time. Remember to exfoliate and put Vaseline on this area. For ingrown hairs, there is actually a treatment called "TendSkin." You only need a little bit and you use a q-tip to place it directly on the ingrown hair. DO NOT pluck out the ingrown hair if it is red and inflamed. Let the hair stay until the redness goes away...then pluck it.

And for your ass crack--I have to keep mine waxed. I can not shave my butt as it gets irritated beyond belief. It's cheaper than the whole Brazilian.

This is a regimen that I have discovered through trial and error, and with the help of my esthetician.

Peel wax every 2 weeks. My waxing lady is from Brazil and what she doesn't know about waxing isn't worth knowing! Instead of the regular 'put it on with a spatula and rip it off with a piece of gauze' wax, this stuff goes on like regular wax but is thicker and as it sets on your skin it grips all the little short hairs and she just pulls it off. I would say its slightly more painful then regular waxing but not by much and the best bit is you don't get any skin irritation or redness afterwards.

So to get that peel wax you're talking about, can't be bought over the counter or anything rite??

Does anyone just have a hair removal plan? (like what areas do you remove hair from, what you use on the hair, what product you use, etc...)What about the cans of hair dissolve? I thought about using on my legs?

I've never tried to buy it over the counter so I don't know- I don't think I could give myself a brazilian without doing myself an injury though, especially not the 'crack' bit.........

Same here I have learned one thing which may be the cause of this...Do you happen to have naturally wavy/curly hair? I read on a hair removal forum that women with natually wavy/curly hair are more prone to this.

I have always had this problem too. I shave now but I am going to wax/sugar when I get back into dancing. I made my own sugaring mix and although I didn't do such a good job (definately not a professional), my skin stayed smooth for weeks! Unlike waxing, your hair only must be 1/8 inch long to sugar, rather then 1/4 inch long to wax. I will only dance part-time, maybe get some stockings that cover your whole legs for the stubbly days. I personally will take off the stubble week and work on webcam, which has been my main bread and butter for a few years now.

You can get the peel wax in the UK, either Nair or Smooth Appeal - look for microwaveable wax which doesn't need strips. I use it to give myself a full Brazilian wax - it hurts but gets less painful each time. However I would definitely recommend having a few salon waxes first until the hairs get less deeply rooted.
