Default What do you think about what the surgeon said?

I had a consultation today to talk about re-doing my boobs. I had a breast reduction 9 years ago and 2 kids since, so they are a little saggy and lacking in fullness. Although, I still wear a 36D-DD.

This surgeon thinks I should go ahead and get implants to fill them out and he thinks that should do the trick of "perking them up" and "if" I am still not happy we can do a lift later on. (he is opposed to combining the 2 in one surgery)

I know implants don't raise the position of the breast, and if anything can weigh them down more, so I'm a little confused. I am wondering if :

    a) he is telling me what he thinks I want to hear (I said I would prefer minimal incisions and quick recovery time, but I thought I made it clear that I was trusting his judgement).

    or

    b) he is trying to get 2 surgeries out of me without and in your face sales tactic.

What do you think? Has anyone had a similar experience? I plan on getting a second opinion, but I'm afraid that might confuse me even more. I just want to make a decision and be happy with the results

This all depends on how big and where - how many CC's are you getting and are they over or under the muscle?

Under the muscle - filled up, or overfilled implants tend to stay perky longer. I have Maghand brand bags. ( I think, it's late and I'm tired ) that too will have an impact on your new boobies.

I'm pretty sure your Doc is not trying to scam you - since you have had a breast reduction. Weight loss and or gain first shows up in a woman's breast and behind. Since these places have the most fat in them. Breasts are mostly fat - so, If you have lost weight recently the girls are going to be a little saggy.

Large natural boobies hang, a lot.. that stretches the skin. So what your Doctor wants to do is normal procedure.

    Stop stressing. It'll be okay

I think you need to see another surgeon. And another if necessary. I've never heard of a PS saying let's try this first and if it doesn't work we'll then do this.

I'd go talk to a few more reputable surgeons. I know a lot of surgeons will do both procedures at once but that doesn't mean it's right for everyone. He could be telling you the truth or maybe he is wrong, but you are better asking other surgeons.

There might be a heart condition involved - or the Doctor might not want to stress her body with too much at one time. Sometimes over caution is a good thing. I do agree about getting a second opinion though..

^ If that's the case then he really ought to be doing the lift first, not the implants.

Agreed.. to the OP, you need to question your Doctor. A lot. He or she is working FOR YOU. Not the other way around. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Sometimes that's the only way you learn anything.

My PS recommended implants then a lift also. I got overs and chose not to get a lift until I come back in about two years to go bigger. The reason for two different procedures is so your skin doesn't have to be stretched, for one. And two because the swelling of both surgeries can make you a bit saggy again.

Thanks for the input. I am going to make a couple more appointments before I make a decision.

I think this is his approach to why he doesn't do both at once.

Although I am confused still about why implants first, I am already kind of saggy from 2 kids.

Hi I dont post here too often, but read alot! I just had BA surgery on April 14th 2009. My breasts were a 36D sometimes double D and I had some sag... my surgeon recommended trying to implants first then lift later as Im very young and he didnt want me to have those scars on my breasts. And he also said it was more dangerous to combine those surgeries. So I opted to do as he said and I couldnt be happier with my results. I chose silicone 800cc's for my size and havent been fitted for a bra just yet so Im not sure how big I am just yet...but my breasts are very lifted! And Im wearing my bra religiously! lol. So far so good. Im very happy with my choice. My fiance cant keep his hands off of them and we are both thrilled with how good they look!

    Good luck!

Yeah congrats! Boobies are fun. I guess it's a little late now but in case someone else comes along, I had a donut lift with an implant about 7 years ago and the scars were so bad I had to put makeup on them for like 1 year ( I had my boobs done way before I started dancing so they were really 2 years old before they looked good). An ex-boyfriend said they looked like a hack job when they were first done. In this industry waiting two years for your breats to really look good sucks.

I was a D...now a DD and originally went in for a "lift": I ended up with implants and both my Doc and I agreed that if they didn't give me the desired look/feel I was after that he'd do a lift at a reduced rate afterwards.
I had a considered a reduction but the scarring scared me off...

It's probably the "best way" in your situation to get back both the fullness and perkiness you are wanting?

I'd go for a 2nd as well but mine have been gorgeous for 10 years and I never needed any kind of life afterwards.
