    Default Blood clots after BA

I take ortho lo and and I getting my boobs done this summer. I know that birth control can cause blood clots and I was wondering if anyone had trouble with them after a surgergy of any kind. Maybe I am worried for nothing. All the girls that I work with that have recently had BAs have not been on any birth control. O and if anyone could tell me how long they waited to go back to work after there BA that would be great! I am having mine done under the arms.

I dont have a BA but I searched for you and this what I came up with:
"Thromboembolism (blood clots): Women who use estrogen-containing birth control pills are at a 3- to 6-fold increased risk of developing blood clots. Blood clots may lead to deep vein thrombosis, heart attack, or stroke. Additional causes of blood clots include advanced age, obesity, family history, recent surgery, and pregnancy. Low-dose (less than 50 mcg of ethinyl estradiol) oral contraceptives pose less risk than older, higher-dose formulations."

"Before the operation, you are advised to stop smoking, stop taking all medications containing aspirin, and also stop birth control pills for 2-3 weeks."

It's a little inconclusive, just call your gyno and/or your surgeon and ask them what they prefer.

Be aware of having too thin of blood also. Stop taking any type of advil/ibuprofen and other types of blood thinning supplements and food at least 2 months in advance if you can. It is so important. Take the blood test even if they say you don't need it so you can see in advance what is going on with your blood.

I found out that I have thin blood and wound up getting a late and slow hematoma due to this. Make sure your doc has CosmetAssure. Docs affiliated with this means you are covered 100% if there are any complications with your surgery for up to a month.

If you are very active and have strong pec muscles, be aware that you will have a longer recovery period too. Stop doing chest exercises about 2 months in advance so your muscles have time to relax.

    Hope this helps.

Why under arms? Is this where you want to go or where your doc suggested. Remember if you ever have to remove your implants or have a complication, they will have to make a new incision, thus a new scar. Possibly you might have extra healing scars if a complication occurs within the month of healing. Have you thought about a crease incision. This gives the doc a very easy way to handle and position the implant - scars are hidden. Through the arm they have more muscles and nerves to cut.

Nerve pains will last up to 1 year and you might have numb spots.

Take your time getting back to work. Too early, they look freaky and custies will be turned off. Take at least a month and a half off. Boobies won't look nice until about 4-5 months or soften until then. Have someone around to help you for at least a week. You won't be able to wipe yourself for a few days.

No one told me this but take your time and let your body heal. It will tell you when it is ready to do things. You might get bored. You might also have post traumatic stress. It is a major operation and getting use to the new additions might be awkward. I felt like a freak until they dropped and softened.

Buy cheap bras for the first 4 months. Your cup will change constantly. one minute they are big small hard soft round weird. Nerve pains will sometimes trigger muscles to tighten then boobs feel hard or change shape a bit.

Scar cream I bought was scar ease. It is expensive but worth every penny!!

I totally did not know aboutt he blood test. I wanted to go under the arm. This doctor specalizes in this. www.theplasticdoc.com Lots of my friends have had them done buy these two doctors and they all look great. I had one friend that had them put in under the arms and she had them for years (it was done by a different doctor) and one of them ruptured. She went to these doctors and they removed them and put in new ones through the armpit. They looked great. I had another friend go to them for a reconstuction and one breast had to be taken from under the breast and one through the armpit. Thanks so much for the advice.
