    Default A stripper's schedule?

I was wondering how (if at all) it effects dancers having to work nights and on weekends instead of a normal job. I want to take classes during the day and still live a normal life while getting the regular 8 hours of sleep. Is this possible if I were to work nights from around 8pm-4am, five days a week? How do you guys balance your time so that you can get everything done on a regular basis???

its hard if your working till 4 am...when i was doing pp's that late it was hard for me toget up before 12, but sometimes you can work something out with your club so that you could leave at 2pm instead, tht would really help you out more then you would think. or maybe you can take later claseses. i always worked a full time normal job for two years of my dancing and i was dancing at a club and doing pp;s. i just had some days where i was really tired, and ihad to make sure i either had the next day completely off or made sure i could sleep in an extra couple hours. if you wear yourself out to much you will get sick and or burned out and will start to hate work. just try to balance everything out. work with your club to balance everything out and explain the situation.

I think it would be pretty hard to take classes during the day and work five nights a week. Maybe you can work 2-3 shifts per week when you don't have classes the next day or something like that.

Another good idea is to simple schedule your class around work as well. Like try and put all your classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Register early so you can pick the ones that work the best for you; all depends on your school though.

Two words: DAY SHIFT!!!! Seriously, I have worked day and night shifts and I just can't deal with working nights any more. I used to be able to handle sleeping all day, but now I just hate it. So I either work day shifts OR I leave early at night--I'll go in at 7 or 8 pm and leave no later than 1 am or 2 am. F staying at the club 'til 5 am! I'm too old for that, and I get cranky when I'm up that late.

I never thought I could do it, but I work until 3:30 four nights a week and take four classes a semester. I just schedule all of my classes for 1:15 and after. When I have a lot of work, I let my manager know and work 2-3 nights a week. I think this is actually easier than working day shift and going to school; if I worked days, I would have to schedule classes from 8-11 am or 7 pm and later.

I love weekend shifts for the money, but after awhile it takes it's toll because I miss going out to all the fun parties with friends.
    Don't you ever sleep?
Not at night...that's when the stars have rather better things to do. They're coming out, shining, that sort of thing.

you want to work 5 nights a week, 8pm to 4am, and get 8 hrs of sleep. So you get off work at 4 and say get home and are in bed by 4:30 (this is a generous estimate if last call is at 4.) And you sleep for 8 hrs. This means you wake up at 12:30. So if you can find classes where you have to wake up after 12:30 to get to on time and can leave in time to get to work by 8, then the answer is yes. However, this is going to be tricky and require skilled time management. Also, I would like to point out that you asked if you could do all of this and live a normal life. I dont think i need to remind you that working at a strip club till 4am does not fall under the normal life umbrella.

I went to school full time this semester (5 days a week) and ive been working full time (i work 5 or 6 nights typically.) 8 hrs of sleep was not realistic if i was to make it to class... i often didnt make it to class, which is not a surprise for me because I have never had good attendance habits (i learn better reading and I'm a good test taker). To be perfectly honest, juggling full time school and classes has caused me to say fuck it to a sleep schedule. I am prescribed adderall (the blue kind..not extended release) and when i need to go to class, do hw, or go to work when i am not already alert i take one. Then i try to nap in between. I also want time for friends, and this is absolutely not possible with a sleep schedule. I definitely do not recommend this though... It is pretty unhealthy.

When I was in school and dancing, I worked two or three night shifts a week and one Friday or Saturday night, not both, usually. During Christmas break I would take at least one week and go to Louisville where I'd work five or six night shifts. Sometimes on Spring Break, I'd pick up a shift or two in at club at the beach. Summers, I would dance full time. I'd go to Louisville a few weeks, but mostly I just worked in Indy. A couple of summers I even went on a stripping trips to Tampa.

I tried doing full time school, working 5 days a week and having a social life one semester and my grades suffered. I had morning and evening classes, worked day shift 4 days a week, plus saturday night, and was going out with friends 3 or 4 nights a week. I ended up getting a D and a C in my morning classes and Bs in my evening classes. (I usually get all As, once in awhile a B). I was mostly doing my homework in the dressing room during slow periods on day shift.

Can you take online classes? Those worked better for me cause I could log in to class whenever and only had to go to school to take exams a few times per semester.

as a dancer you can pay your bills working 30 hours a week. like 8-2 or 7-1.. you dont need to stay til 4... I would suggest not drinking because you may feel ok that night but have a tummy ache tommorow.. drink water... and if a guy offers to buy you a drink-tell them you would rather show them your sexxyy moves.. I plan on going back to school in the fall or summer.. Its possible.. and on slow nights or just a slow hour you could take a text book with you and read it at the bar.. I do that and if a guy walks in I just ask the bartener to hold it for me.. go try to get a dance from him, if he is not up to it just go back to reading... I tip my bartender a few bucks.. depending on how many times I ask him to get my book.. like 2 or 3 times I would give him 5 bucks..

Wow im amazed that you can read a textbook at the bar. With the loud music, naked women, lighting, and general atmosphere there is no way in hell i would be able to concentrate. If i actually get to work in the dressing room I am usually pretty good at getting shit done... tough part is always starting to get to work.

You can pay bills in 30 hours a week of dancing definitely, but if you are like me and are paying tuition at an expensive school you might need more. That and I want to have a fair amount of money saved before I get into grad school. I guess some people are ok just paying the bills, but I have spent enough of my life being poor to know that i dont want to go back to that. Having a fat savings account puts me at ease .

That sounds like a recipe for burnout. The great thing about this job is that many of us (esp college students) can get by working 3-4 days a week. I also agree to schedule all your classes Tues and Thurs and work Thurs thru Sunday, that way Mon and Weds are like your weekend and Tuesday can be easy. That way you wont get super burnt out quickly.

well when there isnt alot of people in there they play kinda soft music..
If you are going to grad school, why dont you get a loan to help you out.. not every semi. but it would still help or thinking about getting roommates, moving home or another school.

I'm in school full time and work btwn 4 -6 nights a wk depending on whether or not the money is good (in the summer it's usually 3 nights a wk) and I have absolutely no life outside of school and work. I get about 5 - 7 hrs of sleep, some nights less, and that's it. I really have no choice. It's just what I do, and in a few years it'll all be over and I'll have what I want. In the meantime... I'm working my ass to keep a 3.8 GPA and I figure I'll sleep when I'm dead... or just too old to do anything else lol.

im an undergrad right now... i just finished my 3rd yr. I want to have a lot of money SAVED by the time i get to grad school. I am at a good school right now with a solid advisor for my undergrad research; switching at this point would be retarded. When i go to grad school i plan on getting a fellowship or haivng the school pay tuition in exchange for TAing etc, there is no way in hell im paying to go to grad school. Most people majoring in math or any of the other sciences dont pay to go to grad school anymore. I currently have 3 roomates; my hometown with my family is 450 miles away in new jersey and i was booted out when i turned 17 anyway. So i am quite content where i am.

Like i said, working 3 nights pays the bills easily. But I want to save a lot of money. I want to be very much so on my own two feet before I go to grad school. Despite the fact that I dont really have a sleep schedule and im very busy, im actually pretty happy. I like keeping busy, it keeps me from getting bored. Im also in a subject that doesnt require a lot of rote memorization, so as soon as i understand a concept i dont need to study much more which saves time. I also have found some friends who live on a nocturnal schedule so i have people to hang out with after work every couple of days to keep me sane.

Like i said, i wouldnt recommend this type of scheduling for most people, but it works very well for me. I make good money, im in good shape, i have fun times with friends, and i have a solid gpa. What more could a girl ask for? I guess a few extra hours of sleep would be nice, but i cant have everything .

Do this: Work til 4am, stay up, schedule early classes, early as possible, and have them end at noon, then go to sleep, sleep from noon til 7pm, then go into work.

I've been thinking about going to school. If I did, this is how I would do it. And I'd work four days a week, and take more classes on the days I didn't go in, but I'd take early morning and late evening classes so I could keep my sleep schedule the same (noon to 7pm).

If you do this though, you need to be able to sleep with sunlight, OR you need to seriously block out all light from your rooms. I do this. I always board up my windows and stuff so that I can sleep all day and be up all night. I find that if the sun gets on me, I keep waking up.

Basically you'd have to commit to having some funky sleep hours. But I personally think that if you're already working til 4am, you probably already have weird sleeping hours to begin with.

I get financial aid and i have a merit scholarship too, but there is still a lot to be paid. With no financial aid my school is about 42,000 a yr, so even with the aid i get its still pretty expensive.

...While a 42,000/yr school is pricey, we don't know what her major is, so there's no guarantee that your school offers her major. It's also highly likely that she chose this school because it has an exceptionally good program in her focus.
